How to Send an Apply Link by Text in SecureWebX
The shortest distance between a phone call and a complete credit application is a text with your apply link in it. Here is how to send one that gets opened.
Step by Step
Copy the link you want to send
Open the SecureWebX console from the dock in the CRM, go to Apply links, and use Copy link on the link that fits this customer. A salesperson texting their own customer should copy their Personal apply link, so the application arrives tagged to them. A special finance customer gets the link that asks for proof of income up front.
Open the customer's thread in the CRM
Go back to the CRM, open the lead, and start a text from the record. The customer's number is already filled in and the message will be logged on their lead with the rest of the conversation. Send it from the thread you are already in rather than from a blank composer, because context is what makes the next message easy to write.
Write one line before the link
Never send a bare URL. Say who you are, what it is for, and how long it takes: your name, the store, the vehicle they asked about, and that the secure application takes a few minutes on the phone. A customer who is expecting the link opens it. A customer who gets an unexplained URL from a number they half recognize does not.
Paste the link and send
Paste the URL at the end of the message and send it from the store's tracking number. Links in a text are shortened automatically, so the message stays short and the clicks are recorded against the lead. You do not have to shorten anything yourself or paste a tracking parameter.
Use email when the customer prefers it
Some buyers want it in writing on a laptop, especially commercial and out of state customers. Click Send an Email in the top bar of the CRM, paste the same link into the body, and it behaves the same way on the other end. Plenty of stores send both and let the customer pick.
Watch the delivery status and the click
The outbound bubble carries a delivery status that moves from sent to delivered, and a failed status means the number never took the message. When the customer opens the link, the click is recorded on the lead, which tells you they are looking at it right now. That is the moment to be available, not two days later.
Work the application when it lands
A submitted application appears in the SecureWebX inbox with a status, an assignee, notes and whatever documents the customer uploaded. A customer who starts and stops turns into follow up for the salesperson instead of silence, so nobody has to guess whether the link was used.
Before you start
You need a LeadLocate CRM login, a lead with a mobile number on it, and at least one apply link in the SecureWebX console. Both open from the same login, and the console opens from the dock in the CRM, so this whole job happens without a second password. If your store has not made a link yet, how to create an apply link covers it in a minute, and how to customize an apply link covers making one ask for proof of income.
Text customers who asked to hear from you: a shopper who submitted a form, a buyer who called or texted first, a customer you are already working. The store's DNC Blacklist stops messages to numbers on it, and the validity dot on the lead tells you whether the number is a mobile before you write. Sending a credit application link to someone expecting it is good business and good compliance at the same time.
What you should see
Your message as a bubble on the right of the thread with the shortened link in it, a delivery status underneath, and the customer's reply on the left when it comes. On their end, a branded application page with your dealership's name on it, five steps to work through, and a save as they go, so an interrupted customer picks up where they stopped instead of starting over.
On the lead record, the text, the click on the link and the application that follows all sit in the same communications log, which means a manager or a teammate can read the whole story without asking you what happened. The finished application appears in the credit application inbox with the apply link it came from, so you can tell at a glance whether the personal links are producing.

What should the text actually say?
Short, specific, signed. Three sentences beats a paragraph. Name yourself and the store in the first line, because a tracking number is not in their contacts yet. Say what the link does in plain words: this is our secure credit application, it takes about five minutes on your phone. Then say what happens next, because that is the part that gets it opened: once it is in, I will have numbers for you today.
Do not quote a payment you cannot stand behind, and do not promise an approval. Say what you will do with the application, not what a lender will decide. Buyers are used to being told anything to get them in the door, and the rep who keeps the message honest is the one who gets the return text on Saturday.
Send it while the conversation is warm. The best time to text an apply link is ninety seconds after the customer said they want to know what payments look like, not the following morning. If the customer goes quiet, schedule a text follow up in the thread rather than trying to remember.
If it did not work
The bubble says failed. The number is a landline, is out of service, or does not take messages from business numbers. Check the validity dot on the lead, run the phone validator on it, and call instead if it is a landline.
The customer says the link does not open. Confirm the link is still switched on in Apply links, and check it yourself with Open apply page in new tab. A retired link shows a page saying it is no longer available, which is the console telling you to send a current one.
The application arrived with no salesperson on it. You sent the store link. Copy your Personal apply link instead and the credit follows you.
The customer started and stopped. That is ordinary shopping behaviour, and it is the strongest buying signal you will get all day. A started application comes back to the CRM as follow up, so call them, answer the question that stopped them, and the link reopens where they left it.
They never opened it. The message was probably a bare URL. Send it again with one line of context and your name on it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What number does the apply link text come from?
The store's tracking number, the same one the rest of your texting goes out on. Replies land in the texting inbox and on the lead, not on anyone's personal phone.
Should I send the store link or my personal apply link?
Send your personal apply link when you are texting your own customer, so the application arrives tagged to you. Store links are for the website, printed cards and general inbound traffic.
Can I tell whether the customer opened the link?
Yes. Links in a text are shortened automatically and the click is recorded on the lead, so you know when they are looking at the application.
What if the customer would rather get it by email?
Use Send an Email in the top bar of the CRM and paste the same link into the body. It works the same way and lands in the same inbox when they submit.
