How to Create an Apply Link in SecureWebX

An apply link is your dealership's credit application in a URL. Make one in the console, copy it, and a customer can apply from the phone in their hand.

Open the SecureWebX console from the SecureWebX button in the CRM dock, go to Apply links, and click Generate apply link. Name the link for the job it does, save it, and use Copy link to put the branded application URL on your clipboard. Send it to a customer and the finished application lands in your inbox.

Step by Step

  1. Open the SecureWebX console

Click the SecureWebX button on the dock at the bottom of the LeadLocate CRM. The console opens with your dealership already signed in, because the SecureWebX company and its users are created with your LeadLocate account. You can also open the console directly in a browser with the same login.

  2. Go to the apply links page

Open Apply links in the console. Every link your store has is listed here with its public application URL and the actions that go with it. A store that has never made one sees No apply links yet and a single button, which is the right place to start.

  3. Generate the link

Click Generate apply link. Give it a name that says what it is for, because you will be picking it out of a list later: website, special finance, weekend event, service lane. The name is for your team; the customer sees your dealership's branded application, not the label you typed.

  4. Decide whether it belongs to the store or to a person

A Personal apply link belongs to one salesperson, so applications that come through it arrive tagged to them. Use personal links when reps text their own customers and you want credit where it is earned. Use a store link on the website, on printed cards and anywhere a customer arrives without a rep attached. Most dealerships run both.

  5. Save it and copy the URL

Save the link and it appears in the list right away. Use Copy link to put the URL on your clipboard, ready to paste into a text from the CRM, an email, a landing page, a QR code on a window sticker or a card on the sales desk. The URL is stable, so a card you print stays good.

  6. See what the customer sees

Click Open apply page in new tab and walk the application yourself before you send it to anyone. You get the same five step form your customers get: personal, residence, employment, income, review. Look at it on a phone too, because that is where most of them fill it in.

  7. Switch it on or off when the job changes

Use Toggle apply link active state to retire a link without deleting anything. A weekend event link goes quiet on Monday, a rep's personal link goes quiet when the rep leaves, and every application that already came through either one stays exactly where it is in your records.

Before you start

You need a LeadLocate login and the SecureWebX console, which every account gets when it is created. Nothing is installed and nothing is purchased separately, so the first link can be made the same day the store goes live. The console opens from the dock in the CRM with the same login you already use, and finance managers, sales managers and salespeople can each be invited with the role that fits what they do.

Know two things before you click. First, what this link is for, because the name and the customizations follow from that. Second, who is going to send it, since a Personal apply link tags the application to a rep and a store link does not. If you are new to the idea, the apply links page explains what they are and what a dealership does with them, and the online credit application form walks the five steps your customer sees.

What you should see

After you save, the new link sits in the list on Apply links with its own public application URL, an active state you control, and the actions to copy it or open it. Click through with Open apply page in new tab and you get your dealership's branded application: your name at the top, the five steps across, a trade-in section, support for an ITIN as well as a Social Security number, and the e-signature and consent capture at the end.

Send the link to a real phone and the completed application appears in the SecureWebX credit application inbox with a status, an assignee, notes and the documents the customer uploaded. Applications that arrived on a personal link show the rep they belong to. From there the finance office works it: stipulations, worksheets, a secure share to a lender of your choosing, and an adverse action notice generated from the record when one is needed.

How many apply links should a store have?

More than one, fewer than twenty. The reason to make a second link is that it needs to ask for something different or be tracked separately, not that it goes in a different text message.

A typical floor runs a store link on the website and in the general inbox, a special finance link that asks for proof of income and proof of residence up front, personal links for the reps who text their own customers all day, and one event link that gets switched on for a sale and off again on Monday. Each one feeds the same inbox, and each application records the link it came from, so the manager can see at a glance which door the business came through.

Resist the urge to make one per rep per campaign. The customizer is what makes a link different; the list is what you have to read on a busy Saturday. Keep the list short enough that anyone in the finance office can pick the right one without asking.

If it did not work

The apply links page is empty. That is No apply links yet doing its job on a store that has not made one. Click Generate apply link and you have your first one in under a minute.

The link opens a page that is not branded like your store. The console holds your business name, logo and colors in the company settings. Fill those in once and every apply link picks them up, including the links you already made.

You pasted the link and the customer got a page saying it is no longer available. The link was switched off. Open Apply links, find it, and use Toggle apply link active state to bring it back, or send a current link instead.

Applications are arriving without a salesperson on them. They came in on a store link. Give each rep a Personal apply link and ask them to send that one from their own conversations.

You want the link to ask for more than the standard form. That is the customizer, not a new link. Extra sections, custom fields, document uploads and disclosures are added to the link you already have.

Related tasks

Texting the link to a customer in the middle of a conversation is covered on text a credit application link, which is the fastest path from a phone call to a complete application. Everything the finance office does with what comes back is on the credit application inbox page, and the security around it, from two factor sign in to the full audit log, is on credit application security.

The LeadLocate Help Center carries the rest of the SecureWebX guides. An apply link behavior your store needs that the console does not already offer is available on request, and our team puts it in production for your dealership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find apply links in SecureWebX?

In the dealer console, on the Apply links page. Open the console from the SecureWebX button on the CRM dock, and every link your store has is listed there.

What is the difference between a store link and a personal apply link?

A personal apply link belongs to one salesperson and tags the applications that arrive through it to that person. A store link is for the website, printed cards and anywhere a customer arrives without a rep attached.

Can I print an apply link on a card or a window sticker?

Yes. The URL is stable, so a printed card or a QR code keeps working. Use a store link for anything printed, and switch it off in the console if you ever retire it.

Does the customer need an account to use the link?

No. They open the link, complete the five step application on their own phone or laptop, sign it and submit. Bot protection sits on the public form, and the data is encrypted once it is submitted.
