Print Packets, Envelopes and First Class Postage
Five customer sheets, a dealer copy, a one page P&L, an envelope template and postage printed on the sheet, all from the deal you already desked.
What print packets do, in one sentence
Print packets turn the deal on the screen into paper a customer can hold, in the version that fits the moment, and then into an envelope with postage on it when the customer is not in the building. Plenty of desking tools print. The difference here is that the print engine is the same one behind the shared pencil recap sheets and the customer deal pages, so what prints is what the customer saw online, to the penny, and the envelope and postage steps are part of the same flow rather than a separate errand.
The Print menu lives on the digital deal view under Desking, next to Share. It offers a Dealer View and five Customer View sheets, and the desk manager picks one the way a manager picks a close: by the customer in front of him. The dealership desking software page covers the desk itself; this page is about what comes out of the printer and what happens to it next.
How a store uses it on a normal day
Morning: a customer at the desk wants three options and no lecture. The manager prints the first customer version, three option columns with the middle one featured and the payment block last, and slides it across. Afternoon: an engineer who wants to see every line item. The manager prints the fourth version, which puts the payment range grid on top of a full itemized ledger, and lets him read. Late afternoon: a couple who cannot agree on a budget. The third version, a large range board with no committed rate and plenty of white space below it for the manager to write on by hand.
Evening: a customer who left at noon without deciding and who, by her own account, reads paper better than a phone. The salesperson prints the fifth version, the four square, plus a reservation confirmation, folds them into a #10 window envelope using the envelope template so the address shows through the window, prints the First Class postage indicia onto the sheet, and drops it in the outgoing mail. The deal history records the print. Nobody drove to the post office, nobody hand wrote an envelope, and the customer gets the same numbers her deal page shows.

The five customer versions and what each one is for
The five customer sheets share one design system, one header, one footer and one disclaimer, and deliberately different guts, because a sheet is a selling tool and different customers need different sheets. The first is the commitment close: three option columns only, the middle one featured, detail held back so the conversation stays on the payment. The second is a guided walkthrough with numbered steps in the order a manager narrates face to face, from customer information through vehicle, pricing, trade, down and rebates, taxes and structure, with the payment reveal last. The third is the budget conversation: a large payment range board with rates uncommitted and handwriting room below. The fourth, Details with payment ranges, is the proof sandwich for the analytical buyer or the finance turnover: information, then the range grid with totals, then the full itemized ledger. The fifth is the modern four square: people and car on top, the payment matrix in the center, the ladders at the bottom.
Every version is one page. The finance grid honors per cell rate ranges, so a cell can read as a range rather than a single number where the desk set one. The lease version prints lease details and lease ranges. Cash prints three simple tiles. The Dealer View prints everything the screen shows, including the capped trade credit annotation, taxed negative equity, the full lease upfront tax itemization and the multi pencil grid with its rate rows and lender per row, with a manager notes box that grows to fill the page. A separate one page Deal Profit & Loss worksheet prints for the sales manager, and a customer reservation confirmation prints for the buyer who has put a vehicle on hold.
Envelopes and postage printed from the same sheet
The mailing half is where most CRMs stop and this one keeps going. Envelope sheet templates lay the customer's address in the exact place a #10 full window envelope shows it after a tri fold, so the printed sheet is the envelope insert and the address label at once. A perforated variant carries a tear off stub. First Class postage is bought from inside the software and printed on the sheet as an indicia, the postal service's own printed postage mark, which is valid to drop in any mailbox without a permit or a trip to the counter. The address is standardized at purchase, and a sent mail archive keeps every piece already paid for, with a view and reprint action per piece.
A single deal packet is the common case, but the same tools mail a batch: upload a list, rate it, buy postage for all of it, print the sheets and fold. That is how a store mails a service reminder, an equity offer or a lease end letter to a list from the CRM without a mail house. The bulk email and bulk texting tools cover the digital versions of the same outreach.
Where it lives: the Print menu, the deal, and the scanner packets
The Print menu is on every deal in the digital deal view and inside the EZ Desking popup, so a manager can print from the worksheet or from the deal without leaving either. Print never submits the form, so a print click on a half finished worksheet does not throw a required field error. The one page P&L is its own action, Print a one-page Deal P&L worksheet, and the reservation confirmation is Print customer reservation confirmation.
Two more packets print from the scanners on a lead. The driver license and insurance card scanner produces an identity scanner packet from the documents a customer scanned in with a phone, and the trade info scanner produces a packet of the registration, title and payoff documents plus vehicle photos; both have a Print Packet action in their modal. The driver license scanner and deal jacket and QR intake pages cover how those documents arrive. The mobile app does not carry the print engine; printing is a desktop job, and the shared link is the phone's version of paper.
What it replaces and what that costs elsewhere
The paper side of a deal is usually a mix: a worksheet printed from a spreadsheet or a desking product, a hand addressed envelope, a stamp from the drawer, and a stack of blank forms for the customer who wants a copy of anything. A mail house handles the big lists at a per piece price with a minimum and a lead time. A separate print product formats the sheets and bills per rooftop. None of them know which customer, which deal or which version was sent.
Print packets, envelope templates and postage are part of the LeadLocate CRM subscription; the store pays only the postage it buys, at the postal service's own rate, and prints on its own printer. Every printed sheet is tied to the deal and every mailed piece is in the sent archive. Plans are month to month and listed on the pricing page.
The compliance angle: what a printed sheet promises and does not
Paper outlives a conversation, so every customer sheet is printed with the same disclaimer in the same place: this is not a contract, all figures are estimates until final lender approval, followed by the state liability text and the name of the person who prepared it. Odometer figures are marked with a footnote on customer sheets so a printed mileage cannot be read as a certified one, including the trade in miles. The range versions never print a single committed payment before the credit tier is known, only a band. The dealer copy is labeled for internal use and carries the manager's notes and the rate spread; it is the one sheet that is not meant to leave the building, and the menu says so.
Mailed pieces carry a standardized address, printed postage with a tracking barcode, and a sent archive entry the store can reprint. A store's own disclaimer language goes on its sheets through the Worksheet disclaimer setting. None of this makes a store compliant on its own; it makes the paper trail complete and consistent, which is what a compliance review actually asks for.
How to turn it on and what to pair it with
Printing is on for every deal from the first login. Envelope templates and postage are set up on request: our team puts the mailing tools in production for your dealership with a postage balance the store funds, and from then on postage is bought and printed from the software. Set the Worksheet disclaimer and the store branding once. The pre-recorded live demo shows a deal being desked and printed.
Pair it with the EZ Desking worksheets the sheets come from, the pencil recap sheets for the customer who would rather have a link, the customer deal pages for the signature, and Design Studio for the business card and referral card that go in the envelope with the packet. The all features page lists everything else in the platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which customer sheet should I print?
It depends on the customer. Three option columns for a payment buyer, the numbered walkthrough for a first time buyer, the range board for a budget conversation, Details with payment ranges for the analytical buyer or the finance turnover, and the four square for the manager who works that way. All five print on one page.
Do the printed numbers match the deal page and the shared sheet?
Yes. The print engine, the pencil recap share and the customer deal page all read the same deal, and the shared sheet is captured from the print output itself.
How does the envelope work?
An envelope sheet template places the customer address where a #10 full window envelope shows it after a tri fold, so the printed sheet is both the insert and the address. A perforated variant adds a tear off stub.
Is the postage real postage?
Yes. First Class postage is bought from inside the software and printed on the sheet as an indicia, the postal service's printed postage mark, valid to drop in any mailbox. The address is standardized at purchase and the piece is kept in a sent mail archive with reprint.
Can I print from my phone?
Printing is a desktop job from the deal view or the EZ Desking popup. From the phone, share the pencil recap link or the deal page instead; it shows the same sheet.
Is any of this extra?
Printing, the five customer versions, the dealer copy, the P&L and the envelope templates are part of every LeadLocate CRM plan. Postage is bought at the postal service rate from a balance the store funds.
