Outbrain Teads Integration for Car Dealers

Native recommendation units plus premium in article video, and the true state of that connection in the CRM.

This platform is registered in the LeadLocate ad gateway with its adapter scoped and its wire-up written, and it is not built yet. The adapter carries a six step checklist, and every deploy, pause, report or verification call it receives comes back as a refusal that names the network. The directory states the test behind every status word it publishes.

What Outbrain Teads actually is, in dealership terms

Outbrain is the second of the two large recommendation networks, the paid tiles that appear beneath and inside publisher articles. Since the merger with Teads it also sells premium in article and outstream video across a large publisher footprint, so one advertiser account now reaches two quite different kinds of inventory.

For a store that combination is more interesting than the native half alone. The recommendation unit is a headline, a thumbnail and a click, priced per click, and it is a traffic machine. The video half is a fifteen or thirty second spot that plays inside an article rather than before a stream, which is a reasonable way to run a model launch or a grand opening without committing to the production budget and the measurement patience that connected TV advertising demands.

The practical dealership use is a sale event, a new franchise point, or a service campaign that needs volume on a landing page this week rather than next quarter. There is no query and no shopper graph behind it. It is placement at scale, and it behaves like it.

Why a dealership would spend money here

The case is that the entry cost is trivially low and the traffic starts the same day. A self serve daily minimum of roughly twenty dollars means a single rooftop can run a genuine test without a contract, a media plan or a quarterly commitment, and the cost per click model means the meter only moves when somebody actually arrives.

The first honest objection is intent. Somebody reading an article about school closures is not shopping for a truck, and a click bought that way is worth less than a click bought from a search result. It is not a substitute for search demand, it is a way to manufacture reach where search demand runs out.

The second objection is specific to the merged offering. The premium video inventory is the genuinely differentiated half, and a store with no produced video asset captures none of that upside while still paying attention to a brand it now shares with a native network. If you have no video, you are buying the commodity half.

The third is a trap the low minimum sets. Twenty dollars a day is cheap enough to run a test that is too small to read, and a campaign that cannot reach statistical honesty teaches a store nothing while feeling like diligence. Small is fine. Unreadable is not.

Where Outbrain Teads stands with LeadLocate today

Registered, not yet built. The test for that word is public: an adapter file exists in the ad gateway with a written wire-up checklist, committed and scoped. Here the checklist is six steps, one longer than its nearest neighbour in this family, because the token exchange on this network is its own step rather than a property of the credential.

Authentication is token based, exchanged from account credentials rather than granted by a browser consent screen. That is a meaningful difference from an OAuth network: there is no redirect for a dealer to click through, and the credential a store hands over is an account level one. It is simpler to implement and it puts more weight on how the credential is stored, which the gateway section below covers.

Access class is PUBLIC. The vendor does not run an approval queue in front of advertiser API credentials, so no application is pending and nothing here is waiting on somebody else's committee. Everything remaining is engineering we control, which is a materially different position from the partner gated networks elsewhere in this directory.

What data would move, and in which direction

Described as a design, since none of it runs.

DirectionWhat would move
Out to the networkCampaign structure, geographic targeting around the store, daily budget and flight dates, headline and thumbnail variants, video creative references, and the destination page
Back from the networkSpend, impressions, clicks, cost per click and video completion metrics, plus the marketer accounts a credential is entitled to
Stored on our sideAn encrypted token, a record of which objects were created under which credentials, and an append only UTC event log
Not part of this workA vehicle catalog, conversion uploads of any kind, and any customer or audience file

Lead capture is clickout. There is no form inside the ad unit, so the opt in has to happen on a page you control, using the trade appraisal, finance or enquiry forms that already exist inside the CRM. Build the landing page before you build the campaign, not after.

How the ad gateway works underneath

Nothing about this network is bespoke. It is one implementation of a contract every platform in the CRM answers.

One library defines what an advertising network must be able to do: hand us an authorization URL, exchange the credential for a usable token, list the accounts a credential reaches, deploy a campaign, pause or resume it, return spend and results, and prove on demand that the connection still works. Seven operations, one adapter file per network. Adding a platform is therefore a file and a credential block rather than a project, and completing one cannot destabilise the network already implemented.

Because this network authenticates from account credentials rather than a consent redirect, the storage question matters more here than on an OAuth platform. Tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are written, and every action against any network lands in an append only audit log carrying the company, the network, the user and the detail, stamped in UTC because the table is shared across dealerships. Campaign objects remember which credentials created them and re-resolve those same credentials later, so a store that disconnects does not leave orphaned campaigns nobody can reach. That machinery exists already, which is why the remaining work here is six steps and not a rebuild.

Managed by us, or connected to your own account

There are two ways to advertise through LeadLocate and the choice is yours.

The first is the webXintel Ads Network: included, always available, built and operated by our team from the selections you make in Leads Manager, and billed as one line rather than a pile of platform statements. There is nothing to configure and no credential for you to generate.

The second is your own marketer account. Connect the account your store already holds and campaigns route through it, on your billing, in your name, with your history and your negotiated terms intact. Most vendors will not offer that option because it costs them the markup on your media. For this network it is the half that is not finished, which is what this page exists to say.

One constraint stated plainly: deploying, activating, pausing and reading spend on any network is done by our team today rather than by you clicking a button. That is deliberate while the connection layer is young, and it is on the list to open up.

What building this would take, and when you could measure it

Six ordered steps. Generate account credentials from the marketer account. Fill and enable the credential block. Implement the token exchange, which on this network is a distinct call rather than a header. Implement account listing. Implement campaign creation, budget updates and status changes. Implement reporting and the verification call.

No step waits on a vendor decision, and the self serve floor of about twenty dollars a day means the commercial barrier is close to nothing. What it does wait on is queue position, which is set by requests rather than by opinion.

One sequencing note worth knowing, because it affects two pages in this directory rather than one. The same account relationship is what issues credentials for the programmatic tier of this family, so building this network first shortens the second one considerably. That is the same kind of dependency that links Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, and it is one of the reasons build order is not simply a popularity contest.

On measurement, clicks appear within hours. Leads take one to three days, because the opt in happens after the click on your own page. Those are statements about how fast the channel produces readable information, not predictions of volume, and no honest vendor will give you the second thing.

What we will not claim about Outbrain Teads

The gaps here are specific and worth naming individually.

We do not emit a vehicle catalog or an inventory feed to this network. No product feed generation exists anywhere in our stack for any advertising platform. Inventory Link merchandises your units on your own properties, which is a different job with a different output.

We do not run a server side conversions API. This platform supports one, which is exactly why the absence needs stating rather than skipping. No server side events, no offline conversion upload, and no pixel installation or management. On a clickout channel that means conversion attribution rests on your landing page and the CRM record.

We do not upload or export a hashed audience file for matching, suppression or lookalike building, and nothing on the six step checklist would produce one.

We do not produce video creative, so the premium video half of this offering assumes you arrive with an asset. That is a service boundary rather than a technical gap, but it decides whether the differentiated inventory is available to your store at all.

No campaign has ever been deployed to this network from the CRM. The code does not exist. Any description of this integration as live is a description of the plan.

If you want Outbrain Teads on your store

Ask for it by name and attach your store and your first campaign idea. Requests are recorded against the platform they name and the tally decides what gets built next, because a dealer with a budget and an offer is a better prioritisation signal than a roadmap meeting.

This one carries more leverage than its own traffic justifies, because the credential relationship behind it also opens the programmatic tier of the same family. Two entries in this directory move together, which is worth saying out loud if you were planning to ask for both.

Until then the managed path runs today and depends on none of this. Platform pricing sits on the pricing page and does not change with the number of networks you turn on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does LeadLocate integrate with Outbrain Teads today?

No. It is registered in the ad gateway with a six step wire-up checklist and no working lifecycle methods. Deploy, pause, report and verification calls all return a refusal that names the network, so nothing in the CRM can quietly pretend the link exists.

Can I use my own Outbrain Teads ad account?

Not through the CRM yet. The self connect half is the unfinished one. Nothing on the vendor side blocks you, because credentials here are issued from inside the marketer account with no approval queue, so the only missing piece is our code.

What happens if I request Outbrain Teads?

It is logged against this network specifically and counted, and that count is the input to build order. You get an answer from a person containing either a range or a reason. Requesting it also strengthens the case for the programmatic tier that shares the same account relationship.

Is the twenty dollar a day minimum really enough to test with?

It is enough to start, not always enough to learn. A budget that small can take a week to accumulate enough clicks to compare two headlines honestly. Plan the test length rather than the daily figure, and decide in advance what result would change your mind.

What does the Teads side add over ordinary native placements?

Premium in article and outstream video on publisher inventory, which suits a model launch or a store opening better than a thumbnail does. It only helps if you have a video asset ready, since creative production is not something we supply.

How would I know whether it worked?

Clicks land within hours and are easy to read. Attribution to a sale is harder, because there is no server side signal going back to the platform from us. The workable measure is CRM sourced leads on the landing page, matched against spend, over a fixed window you set before launch.
