Microsoft Advertising CRM Integration
The search platform most dealerships skip, and the one that imports wholesale from a Google account.
This platform is registered in the LeadLocate ad gateway with its adapter scoped and its wire-up written, and it is not built yet. Microsoft is unusual in this catalogue because its cost of adoption is tied to another platform: campaigns import wholesale from Google Ads, so a store already running Google is most of the way to running this one. See the full directory for what each status means.
What Microsoft Advertising actually is, in dealership terms
Microsoft Advertising is search on Bing, plus Yahoo and DuckDuckGo results, plus an audience network that places native units across MSN, Outlook and Edge. It is the second search account a dealership opens, and the one most never get around to opening.
The piece that matters most for a store is Automotive Ads, which are feed-based inventory listings rendering actual units with price and mileage, the direct counterpart to Google's Vehicle Listing Ads. Microsoft documents these under its bulk feed tooling rather than as a separate product, which is part of why they are so widely overlooked.
The other structural fact is import. Microsoft is built to ingest a Google Ads account wholesale, campaigns, ad groups, keywords and copy together. That is a deliberate acquisition strategy on their part and it is genuinely useful: the marginal effort of adding this platform, once Google exists, is close to nothing.
Why a dealership would spend money here
Two reasons, and they compound. Cost per click on Microsoft runs consistently below Google in automotive because fewer advertisers are competing for the same searches. The same budget simply buys more clicks.
The second is who is on the other end. The audience skews older and higher income, which in a dealership context maps toward cash buyers and near-prime credit rather than the subprime end of the market. For a store whose problem is approval rates rather than lead volume, that demographic skew is worth more than the click discount.
The honest objection is scale. Microsoft's share of search is a fraction of Google's, so this is an addition to a search budget and not a replacement for one. A dealership that runs Microsoft alone and expects Google-sized volume will be disappointed, and a vendor who sells it that way is doing the store a disservice. It is the highest-efficiency search dollar available, applied to a smaller pool, which is the same trade-off described on the Microsoft Ads channel page.
Where Microsoft Advertising stands with LeadLocate today
Registered, not yet built. The published test is that an adapter file exists in the ad gateway with a written wire-up checklist, committed and scoped, and that is what is there. Every lifecycle call the adapter receives returns a refusal naming Microsoft rather than a silent failure that would look like an outage.
Access class is PUBLIC: registering a developer application requires no approval queue. A developer token is still required before the API will answer, which is Microsoft's process rather than ours, and it is the one step here that runs on somebody else's schedule.
The realistic sequencing is worth stating, because it affects what a request for this platform actually gets you. Since campaigns import from Google, and since the Google adapter is itself unbuilt, the sensible order is Google first and Microsoft immediately after. A store asking for Microsoft is usually asking for both, and the second one is much cheaper than the first.
What data would move, and in which direction
Described as a design, since none of it runs today.
| Direction | What would move |
|---|---|
| Out to Microsoft | Campaign and ad group structure, geographic radius around the store, budget and flight dates, and ad copy |
| Back from Microsoft | Lead form submissions, spend, impressions, clicks and conversions, and the accounts a connected user manages |
| Stored on our side | An encrypted refresh token, which objects were created and by which credentials, and an append only event log |
| Not part of this work | An automotive inventory feed, offline conversion upload, and any customer list |
The bottom row is what decides whether Automotive Ads are possible, and it is addressed directly below rather than left vague.
How the ad gateway works underneath
Microsoft is one implementation of a contract that every network in this directory answers, rather than a bespoke piece of plumbing.
One library inside the CRM defines what any advertising platform must do: hand us an authorization URL, exchange the code for a token, list the accounts you own, deploy a campaign, pause or resume it, return spend and results, and prove the connection still works. Seven operations, one adapter file per network. That is why the marginal cost of the second search platform is small, and why finishing one network cannot disturb another that is already running.
Tokens are encrypted before storage with AES-256-GCM, every action lands in an append only audit log stamped in UTC, and campaign objects record which credentials created them so a later disconnect cannot strand them. None of that is rebuilt per network. It is the reason the remaining work on any given platform is a checklist rather than a project, and the reason a dealership can ask us to turn a vendor off as easily as on.
Managed by us, or connected to your own account
Two ways to advertise through LeadLocate, and you pick. The webXintel Ads Network is the managed path: included, always on, built and run by our team from the selections you make in Leads Manager, arriving as one line rather than a stack of platform invoices. It runs today and does not wait on this adapter.
The other is your own account, where campaigns route through the advertising account your store already holds, on your billing and in your name, with your spend history intact. For Microsoft that is the path this page describes and the one that is unfinished.
One limit that applies across the gateway and is easier said now than discovered later: pushing, pausing and reading numbers from a network is done by our team today, not from your dashboard. It is a deliberate constraint while the connection layer is young.
What building this would take, and what you would see
The adapter checklist is ordered and short. Register a developer application and obtain a developer token. Fill the Microsoft block in the credential file and enable it. Implement the token exchange, account listing, campaign deployment, status changes, reporting and verification against the Microsoft Advertising API.
Because campaigns import from a Google account rather than being built from scratch, much of the operational work a store would otherwise do is handled by the platform itself. Onboarding a dealership that already runs Google is close to one click once the credentials exist.
Expect readable data quickly once live, on the order of a day, because search demand in a trade area is immediate rather than accumulating. As with every channel in this directory, that describes how fast the channel produces information and says nothing about how many leads arrive or what they close at, which nobody can promise.
What we will not claim about Microsoft Advertising
We do not emit an automotive inventory feed. Microsoft's Automotive Ads render from a feed, and no code in our stack generates one for any advertising platform. Inventory Link ingests a dealership's feed and merchandises the units on its own properties, which is a different job. Finishing this adapter would not close that gap, and feed-based inventory advertising on Microsoft is therefore not something we deliver.
We do not run conversion uploads or server side conversion tracking, and we do not install or manage pixels.
We do not upload customer lists for audience targeting on this or any platform.
No campaign has ever been deployed to Microsoft from the CRM, because the code that would do it is unwritten. Any description of this integration as working today describes an intention.
The reason to put this on the page rather than in a sales call is that a dealership will discover it either way, and discovering it from us costs both sides less.
If you want Microsoft Advertising connected
Ask, and ask with your store named. Requests are recorded against the platform and counted, and the count is the input to build order rather than a marketing metric.
Mention if you already run Google Ads. That single fact changes the shape of the work, because the import path means the effort of adding this platform to an existing account is small, and it moves a request for Microsoft up the queue rather than down it. The other side of that relationship is described on the Google Ads page.
Until then the managed path runs and does not depend on any of this, and platform pricing on the pricing page does not change based on which networks you turn on.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does LeadLocate integrate with Microsoft Advertising today?
No. It is registered in the ad gateway, meaning an adapter file exists with a written wire-up checklist, and it is not built. Every call it receives returns a refusal naming the network.
Can I use my own Microsoft Advertising account?
Not yet through the CRM. That self connect path is the unfinished half. The managed path runs today and does not depend on it.
What happens if I request Microsoft Advertising?
It is recorded against this platform and counted, and that count decides build order. Say whether you already run Google Ads, because the import relationship makes this platform far cheaper to add afterwards.
Can you run Automotive Ads with my inventory?
No. Those are feed based and we do not generate an inventory feed for any advertising platform. That gap is separate from the adapter and finishing the adapter would not close it.
Is it worth running if I already advertise on Google?
That is the case where it makes most sense. Clicks cost less, the audience skews older and higher income, and campaigns import wholesale rather than being rebuilt. It adds efficient reach rather than replacing search volume.
Why is a platform this useful still unbuilt?
Sequencing. It imports from Google, and the Google adapter is unbuilt too, so building this one first would deliver less than building it second. Demand in the request queue can change that order.
Two search platforms, one import
If you already run Google Ads, adding Microsoft is close to one click once the connection exists. Tell us your store and we will put it in the queue with that noted.
