Referral Program With Real Payouts
A referral program that pays in promises produces no referrals. One that pays a real reward, on time, with a record, produces the cheapest customers a store will ever meet.
What the Referral Program does, in one sentence
The Referral Program in LeadLocate CRM gives a dealership a working referral engine: a public form a happy customer fills out to refer a friend, a personal referral link for each salesperson and a shared link for the team, referral campaigns the store designs, and real payouts, gift card style rewards sent from inside the CRM and logged in a Payout History. That last part is what most programs lack. The automotive CRM with a referral program page explains why a referral program has to capture, attribute, remind and reward to work at all; this page is the tool that does those four things.
Referrals are the cheapest customers a dealership acquires and the least likely to be handled well, because the process usually lives on a sticky note and the reward usually arrives as a check someone forgot to cut. A program with real payouts changes the customer's math. Refer a friend, the friend buys, a reward arrives. When that sequence is reliable, people repeat it.
How a store runs it on a normal month
A customer takes delivery on the third. The salesperson's delivery text, sent from the CRM, ends with his personal referral link. The customer's brother-in-law is looking for a truck, so a week later she opens the link and lands on the store's referral form: her name, his name, his phone, a note that he wants a crew cab under a budget she names. That submission becomes a lead in the inbox, sourced to her referral and assigned to the salesperson whose link she used. The Referral Program page shows the referral pending against her name.
The salesperson works the lead the way he works every lead, with the difference that the first text opens with "your sister-in-law mentioned you were looking." Eleven days later the brother-in-law buys. The manager opens the Referral Program page, finds the referral, and clicks Send Referral Payout. The reward, in the amount the store set in Payout Settings, goes to the customer who referred him, and the line appears in Payout History with the date and amount. The customer gets her reward the same day the deal funds, and the salesperson gets a second delivery text to send with the same link.
At the end of the month the general manager reads Payout History next to the deals it produced. Every reward is tied to a name, a referral and a sale. That is a referral program a store can defend to its accountant and its customers in the same breath.

Where it lives: the Referral Program on the dock, links, form and Design Studio
The Referral Program has its own button on the dock at the bottom of LeadLocate CRM, next to Design Studio and My Office, so it is one click from anywhere. The page carries Your Personal Referral Link for the signed-in user and the Shared Team Referral Link for the store, each with a click to copy, so a rep pastes a link into a text in seconds and a manager puts the team link on a sign at the service counter. Payout Settings holds the reward amount and the payout connection; Payout History lists every reward sent.
The customer side is the public referral form, reached from those links and from the store's public booking page, where a Referrals pop-up opens the same form. The form asks for the referrer's details, the full name of the person being referred, what they are looking for, and an optional note on budget, timeline or a specific model. The website editor's Referrals tab controls how the program appears on the store's site, and the form link can be copied from settings for use anywhere.
On the print side, Design Studio on the dock builds a referral card, the physical piece a salesperson hands over at delivery with the link on it. On mobile, the referral leads arrive in the same inbox as everything else in the LeadLocate mobile app.
What it replaces, and what referral software costs elsewhere
The standalone referral products sold to dealerships charge a monthly platform fee, add a per-reward fee on top, and live outside the CRM, so the referral arrives as an email that someone has to turn into a lead by hand. Attribution breaks at that step, because the person who typed the lead did not type the source. Payouts are a separate spreadsheet and a separate trip to buy gift cards. The customer referral program software page walks through the five jobs a referral tool has to do and where the standalone versions fall down.
Inside the CRM the program is part of the platform subscription. The links, the form, the campaigns and Payout History are included in every plan on the pricing page; the store funds the rewards it chooses to send, in the amounts it sets, and nothing else. There is no second login, no email to retype, and no spreadsheet, because the referral is a lead from the moment it is submitted and the payout is a line in the same system that recorded the sale.
The compliance angle: a referral is someone else's phone number
A referral program collects a phone number from a person who is not the one being contacted, and that shapes how the first contact has to work. The form captures the referrer's details and the referred person's name and phone, and the resulting lead carries that origin. The first message should say who referred them and why the store is reaching out, and it should make stopping easy; a reply of stop lands on the record and every texting tool in the CRM honors it. The DNC Blacklist page with its live do not call lookup sits in front of any bulk campaign, so a referred number that should not be called is caught before a list goes out.
Rewards have their own rules, and they differ by state and by what is being sold. The amount, who is eligible, and whether a reward requires a completed sale are decisions a dealership makes with its own counsel. What the software does is record them: the amount set in Payout Settings, the person who received it, the date and the referral it belongs to, all in Payout History. A program that can show that record is one a store can run in the open. A program that pays from a petty cash drawer is one a store hopes nobody asks about.
How to turn it on
The Referral Program is live for every account and switched on by default for new ones. Open it from the dock, copy Your Personal Referral Link, and put it in your delivery text. A manager sets the reward in Payout Settings, connects the payout method there, and turns on the Referrals tab in the website editor so the form shows on the store's site and booking page. Create a referral campaign when the store wants a specific push, such as a service customer program or a month where the reward is doubled.
A store that wants the referral form to ask a particular question, a payout rule that depends on the deal, or a campaign that reminds referrers automatically can ask for it; that is available on request, and our team puts it in production for your dealership. The pre-recorded live demo shows a referral arriving and a payout going out.
What to pair it with
A referral program lives or dies on the moment of asking, so pair it with the tools that put the link in front of a customer when they are happiest. Automated Templates put the link in the delivery text and the follow up a month later without anyone remembering to. Trackable short links show which of those messages got opened. Design Studio prints the referral card and the business card the link rides on, and the appointment booking links carry the Referrals pop-up on the store's public booking page.
On the reporting side, the Reports dashboard shows the referral source next to every other source, so the general manager sees what the program produced against what the store paid in rewards. The all features page lists everything else the program connects to.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are referral payouts sent?
From the Referral Program page. Set the reward in Payout Settings and connect the payout method once. When a referral earns its reward, click Send Referral Payout and a gift card style reward goes to the referrer; the line appears in Payout History.
Does each salesperson get their own referral link?
Yes. Every user has Your Personal Referral Link on the Referral Program page, and the store has a Shared Team Referral Link. Referrals through a personal link are assigned to that salesperson.
Where does a referred customer end up?
In the lead inbox in LeadLocate CRM, sourced to the referral and the referrer, with the note the referrer wrote about what the person wants. It is worked like any other lead, with round robin and Automated Templates if the store uses them.
Can customers submit a referral without a salesperson involved?
Yes. The public referral form is reachable from the shared team link, the Referrals tab on the store's website, and a Referrals pop-up on the store's public booking page.
Who decides the reward amount and the rules?
The dealership. The amount and eligibility are set by the store in Payout Settings, with its own counsel on the rules that apply in its state. The CRM records who was paid, how much, when and for which referral.
What does the Referral Program cost?
It is part of every LeadLocate plan, month to month, starting with CRM Only at $199 a month. The store funds the rewards it chooses to send and nothing else.
