How to Use the Mobile Dialer in LeadLocate
The phone in the LeadLocate app places, records and logs a call from the lead you are already reading.
The mobile dialer is the VoIP phone inside the LeadLocate app. It places a call from your phone on the store's tracking number, records it if you choose, and writes the call to the lead and the call log. You start it from Call on the bottom dock or from the phone number on any lead.
Step by Step
Sign in to the app
Open the LeadLocate app on your phone and sign in. If your store has set a 4 digit PIN for mobile quick access for you, the PIN gets you in without typing a password.
Open the dialer
Tap Call on the bottom dock. The VoIP Phone opens with a keypad and a Phone Number field. To call a customer you already have on file, open Leads instead, pick the customer and tap their phone number; the dialer opens with the number filled in.
Enter the number
Type the ten digit number on the keypad. Tap Delete digit to fix a wrong key. A number that came from a lead is already there, so you skip this step.
Decide about recording
Turn on Record this call before you dial if your store records calls. Your store sets the announcement policy for recording; the switch only controls whether the audio is kept.
Place the call
Tap the call button. The first time, your phone asks for microphone permission; allow it, or the customer hears nothing. Talk through the handset, the speaker or a connected headset.
Drop a voicemail if nobody answers
When the call rolls to voicemail, tap Drop Voicemail, choose a message from Select Voicemail Recording and hang up. The recording plays into the customer's mailbox while you move on.
Check the log
After the call, open the Call Log from the app, or tap Open call logs from the Workspace, and confirm the call is there with its direction and duration.
Before you start
You need the LeadLocate app installed on an iOS or Android phone and a login for your dealership's account. Any role can place calls: a salesperson, a manager or a Master Administrator. Your store's tracking phone number is provisioned when the account is created, so there is nothing to set up on the phone side; the number the customer sees on their screen is that tracking number. Allow the app to use the microphone when the phone asks. A headset is optional and a good idea on a noisy lot. If you would rather talk on your own cell line than through the app's audio, the VoIP softphone page explains the triggered call to a physical phone, which rings your handset first and then bridges the customer in.
What you should see
When the call connects you see the customer's number, a running timer and the controls for the call. When you hang up, the call is written to three places at once. It appears in the Call Log in the app with its direction and duration, on the lead's timeline in order with the texts and emails around it, and on the desktop Calls page where a manager sees every call the store made that day. If you turned on Record this call, the desktop row carries a Play control and a transcript you can open, which is covered in how to read a call transcript. If you dropped a voicemail, the row shows it as a voicemail drop rather than as a call nobody answered. Inbound calls work the other way round: a customer who calls the store's tracking number rings your phone with an alert screen that shows who is calling and which lead they belong to, and you answer from there.
Questions? Request a Call Back
Leave your number and a lead specialist calls you back to answer your questions about pricing, coverage, and setup. Mon - Sat, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific.

If it did not work
The customer hears nothing, or you hear nothing. The app does not have microphone permission. Open your phone's settings, find the LeadLocate app, allow the microphone, and place the call again. This is the cause nine times out of ten on a phone that has never made a call from the app.
The call ends immediately or the log shows Call could not be placed. Check the number. The dialer expects a ten digit US number; a number with a leading 1 or a missing area code does not connect. If the number is right, your data connection is the next suspect. A weak signal drops a VoIP call before it rings; move to a better signal or switch to Wi-Fi and dial again.
The call connected but is not on the lead. You dialed the number by hand rather than from the lead, and the number on the lead does not match the one you typed. Open the lead, check the number on file, and call from the lead next time so the call attaches itself.
If none of these fit, the support team is a call or a text away and can look at the call from the store's side.
Related tasks
The mobile dialer is the phone half of the LeadLocate mobile app, and the same call log, recording and voicemail library are shared with the desktop LeadLocate CRM. Recording a message for Drop Voicemail to use is its own short task, how to drop a voicemail. A customer who does not pick up is often a customer who answers a text, and the Open text messaging quick action on the Workspace takes you to the same lead's thread. Every guide in the Help Center follows the same shape, so the next one reads like this one.
Tips from the floor
Call from the lead, not from the keypad, whenever the customer is already in the CRM. The call attaches itself to the right record, the recording lands where the manager can find it, and you never mistype a number. Make your voicemail drop recordings before the day starts, not when the third call rolls to voicemail with a customer walking up. And if you take a lot of inbound, keep the app signed in; the inbound alert screen only rings a phone that is signed in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What number does the customer see when I call from the app?
Your store's tracking phone number, the same number they see when the store calls from a desk. A salesperson who wants their own office number to show runs the caller ID verification once from the desktop CRM.
Can I use the dialer without a headset?
Yes. The call runs through the phone's own microphone and speaker like any other call. A headset only makes a noisy lot easier.
Does the call use my cell plan minutes?
No. The dialer places the call over your data connection or Wi-Fi. If you prefer a regular cell call, trigger the call to your own phone from the desktop CRM and it still gets logged.
Where do I find a call I made yesterday?
In the Call Log in the app, filtered by date, or on the Calls page of the desktop CRM, and on the lead's own timeline.
Prefer to be shown?
Schedule a live training session and a specialist walks your team through the mobile dialer on your own account.
