How to Send a Picture Message in LeadLocate
A photo of the actual car answers more questions than three paragraphs. Sending one from the CRM takes an attach button and a send button.
Step by Step
Open the customer's thread
From the lead record, open the text conversation, or go to Messaging and pick the thread in the texting inbox. For a customer you have not texted yet, click Send a Text in the top bar or New Text Message in the inbox and fill in the number.
Click the attach button
Click Attach file (MMS) next to the message box. A picker opens with three sources: Upload from Computer, Upload from Mobile Device and Choose from File Library.
Pick the picture
Choose Upload from Computer and select the photo, or Choose from File Library to reuse a photo or PDF the store already keeps, such as a brochure or a price sheet. In the mobile app, Add photo/file from device opens the phone's camera roll, which is the fastest way to send a picture you just took on the lot.
Add more if you need them
Click + Add More to attach another photo before sending. Several photos in one message arrive together on the customer's phone, in order. If the file is one you will send again, use Save to Folder so it is in the File Library next time.
Write one line and send
Type a short line in the message box saying what the picture is, then press Send Text or Send (Enter). The photo appears as a bubble in the thread with the text under it.
Check the status
Watch the status under the bubble move to delivered. A picture message takes a few seconds longer than a plain text because the carrier moves the file, so give it a moment before you resend.
Before you start
You need a LeadLocate CRM login on desktop or the mobile app, a customer thread or a mobile number to start one, and the picture itself. Any user can send an MMS from the store's tracking number; there is nothing to turn on. Photos from a phone camera are the right size as they are. A document goes as a file attachment the customer opens from the message; a PDF of the window sticker or a price sheet works well.
If the picture is a vehicle in your inventory, you usually do not need to attach anything: the Insert a vehicle from your inventory button drops the unit into the message with its photo, year, make, model and price from Inventory Link. Use the attach button for the pictures inventory does not have, such as a close up of the interior the customer asked about, the odometer, or a walkaround shot you took on the lot a minute ago.
What you should see
The picture shows as a bubble in the thread with the text you typed beneath it and a status that moves from sent to delivered. On the customer's phone it arrives as a picture in their normal messaging app, not as a link to a portal, and they reply to it the way they reply to any text. Pictures the customer sends back, the trade in, the insurance card, a screenshot of a competing quote, render in the same thread, and the whole exchange sits on the lead record in the communications log.
On a phone that supports rich messaging the picture arrives in that format automatically, at full quality; on a phone that does not, it goes as a standard MMS, and you never have to pick. The two way texting inbox page shows what the thread looks like with pictures both ways.

If it did not work
The status says failed. Most often the number is a landline or a line that blocks pictures from business numbers. Check the validity dot on the lead and run the Phone Validator on the number. If plain texts deliver and pictures fail, the customer's plan is blocking MMS; send the photo as a link from the File Library instead.
The file was refused by the picker. The file is too large or in a format the carrier will not carry. Send a photo as a JPEG or PNG straight from the camera roll, and a document as a PDF. Videos are better sent as a link.
The picture arrived but looks small. Carriers compress MMS pictures. For a photo the customer needs at full size, upload it to the File Library and send the secure share link, which also tells you when they opened it.
The picture is not on the lead. The thread belongs to a contact that is not linked to this lead. Merge the duplicate records and the thread moves to the surviving lead.
Related tasks
The full loop of writing, sending and reading status is in the guide on texting a customer, and the vehicle button has its own guide on sending a vehicle in a text, both in the LeadLocate Help Center. The File Library under the Files menu is where the store keeps the brochures and price sheets you will attach again and again, and its share links track opens. The LeadLocate mobile app is the tool for pictures taken on the lot: open the thread, add the photo from the device, send.
Picture messages to a list of customers at once run through Bulk Texting under Marketing Tools on the dock, with the same attach control. Anything your store needs beyond that is available on request, and our team puts it in production for your dealership.
Tips from the floor
Send the picture the customer asked for, not the gallery. One clear shot of the thing they doubted, the tires, the back seat, the odometer, closes more questions than ten glamour shots. Write the caption as an answer: this is the driver seat you asked about. Take the photo in the app and send it from the thread while you are still standing at the car; a picture ten minutes later reads as an afterthought.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send a picture in a text from LeadLocate?
Yes. Click Attach file (MMS) in the text composer, pick the photo from your computer, phone or the File Library, and send. It goes out as an MMS from the store's number.
Can I send more than one picture in the same message?
Yes. Use + Add More in the attach picker to add photos before you send; they arrive together on the customer's phone.
Can customers send pictures back?
Yes. Pictures a customer sends render in the same thread and are saved on the lead record with the rest of the conversation.
Do I have to attach a photo to send a car?
No. Insert a vehicle from your inventory drops the unit into the message with its photo and price. Use the attach button for pictures inventory does not have.
