DriveCentric Alternative for Car Dealerships

What to look at before you replace a modern CRM, and where a lead generation platform changes the math.

Dealers shop a DriveCentric alternative when they want lead supply and CRM from one vendor, simpler contract terms, or a wider stack that includes voice, desking and credit applications. LeadLocate is a lead generation platform with a full CRM built around it, sold month to month. Whether it is the right move depends on what you are actually trying to fix.

Start by naming the problem, not the vendor

Almost nobody shops a CRM for fun. Something specific happened. Before you take a single demo, write down the sentence that would make the change worth it, because the sentence usually falls into one of four categories and only three of them are solved by a new vendor.

The first is cost and terms. You are inside a commitment you did not want, or the renewal number climbed, or you are paying for seats that belong to people who left in March. Legitimate reason to look.

The second is stack sprawl. You pay one company for the CRM, another for leads, another for texting, another for a chat widget, another for a landing page tool, and you personally are the integration layer between them. Consolidating is a legitimate reason to look, and it usually saves more in attention than in money.

The third is fit. The system does more than your store uses, or less, and the daily path takes too many clicks, so people drift back to their personal phones. Once that happens your reporting becomes fiction and your coaching has nothing real to work from. Legitimate reason to look.

The fourth is a process problem wearing a software costume. Leads sit for two hours. Follow up dies after the second touch. Nobody sets an appointment time, they set an appointment day. A new CRM will make that more visible, which genuinely helps, but it will not fix it. Be honest about which category you are in.

What DriveCentric is known for

DriveCentric is a newer generation automotive CRM that built its reputation on engagement and on interface design. It is known in the market for video messaging, a modern communication centered workflow, texting, and AI assisted features, and it is used by both franchise and independent stores. Dealers who like it tend to like it for the same reason: the salespeople actually use it, which is the hardest problem in this category and the one most legacy systems never solved.

If that is what you have and the floor has adopted it, that is worth real money. Adoption is the whole ballgame. Do not trade a system your team uses for a system with a longer feature list they will ignore.

Capability, packaging and pricing change on both sides, sometimes quarterly. Nothing on this page should be treated as current vendor fact. Ask DriveCentric directly for anything that will drive your decision, and hold us to the same standard.

What LeadLocate adds that a CRM by itself does not

The structural difference is simple. Most CRMs assume you already have leads. LeadLocate delivers them and then gives you the software to work them, on one bill.

You choose a territory around your store. Every lead submitted inside that zone is delivered to you exclusively and is not resold to other dealerships. There are two families. Inbound buyer leads come from in market shoppers, a mix of VIN specific inquiries against advertised inventory and open shoppers describing what they want. Opt in seller leads come from local owners who filled out a vehicle offer request and asked a dealership to contact them about selling. Nothing is filtered or scored: we ask pre-screening questions at capture and deliver everything that comes in, which is a more honest arrangement than a quality claim made before anyone has called the customer.

Then there is the width of the platform. Beyond the CRM itself you get a voice stack with an IVR, call routing and number management, a desking engine covering loan and lease with a fifty state tax matrix, secure online credit applications with shareable apply links you can text to a customer, a compliance module with consent handling, lead pages for landing page campaigns, personal salesperson websites, a free live chat widget, and Leads Manager, a self service campaign builder with a zone editor. Those are typically four or five separate invoices at a store your size.

Communication tools, compared honestly

This is the category dealers ask about most, so here is the specific list rather than an adjective. LeadLocate includes SMS and MMS with full threading, RCS messaging with automatic SMS fallback, click to call with a VoIP softphone, call forwarding, trigger calls, call logs, call recording with transcription, voicemail recording and voicemail drop with recipient lists, an email inbox with a composer and single message views, email archive, email campaigns and bulk email with recipient management.

Two of those deserve more attention than they usually get. Call transcription turns an eleven minute call into something a manager can read in thirty seconds, which is the difference between coaching that happens and coaching that gets scheduled and then does not happen. Voicemail drop lets a salesperson leave a prepared message and move immediately to the next number, which changes how many dials a person can actually make in an hour.

We also ship an email validator and a phone validator. Bad contact data is a quiet expense: it burns dial time, damages sending reputation and makes every report slightly wrong. Validating before you send costs less than repairing deliverability afterward. More detail is on the texting and calling page.

Choose DriveCentric if

Some of these will apply to your store. If most of them do, stay where you are and spend the energy on process instead.

  • Your salespeople have genuinely adopted it and the daily activity data you are getting is real.
  • Video messaging is a core part of how your team sells and your customers respond to it.
  • You already have lead sources that produce at a cost per sale you are happy with, so a vendor supplying leads adds nothing.
  • You have integrations wired in that would take real work to rebuild and are producing measurable results today.
  • Your manufacturer relationship or your group standard points at a specific certified CRM list and this is on it.

Adoption is worth more than features. That is not a polite thing to say about a competitor, it is the single most reliable predictor of whether a CRM produces anything.

Choose LeadLocate if

The argument for moving gets strong when several of these overlap.

  • You want lead supply and CRM from one vendor on one bill instead of stitching two contracts together and arguing about attribution.
  • You want exclusive territory leads rather than shared leads that three stores are calling in the same minute.
  • You are paying separately for texting, chat, landing pages, a dialer or a desking tool, and you would rather have them in one place.
  • Contract terms matter to you. We sell month to month, with no long term commitment, and the month to month page explains why we run it that way.
  • You need the acquisition side as much as the retail side and want opt in seller leads from local owners in your zone.
  • You want individual salespeople able to run on the platform with their own site, their own numbers and their own follow up.
  • You do not have a dealer management system connection or an inventory feed. Neither is required, though Inventory Link will ingest a feed and advertise your live vehicles if you have one.

What it costs and how stores usually start

Pricing is public and month to month. CRM Only is $199 per month for a store that has its own lead flow and just wants the software and the communication stack. Lead Data Only is $599. Inbound buyer leads start at $799. Marketplace Acquisitions, the seller side, starts at $999. The Buyers and Sellers Hybrid Plan starts at $1,599. Skip A Month is $199 and exists so a store can pause lead delivery during a slow stretch without losing its data or its territory.

Most stores start one of two ways. Either they take CRM Only first to prove the workflow with lead flow they already have, then add a lead program once the team is working the system properly. Or they start a lead program in a single market where they know they are underperforming, and expand when the numbers move. Both are reasonable. Buying every module on day one and rolling it out to everyone in the same week is the version that tends to go badly, and that has nothing to do with the software.

What we will not do is attach a promise to the price. We cannot guarantee lead counts, close rates, credit quality or sales results, because the customer controls most of those. Full figures are on the pricing page.

Test it on one team before you move the floor

Replacing a CRM the whole store uses is a real operational risk, and you do not have to take it all at once. Run one team, or one store in a group, for three to four weeks with a defined slice of lead flow pointed at it. Leave everything else exactly where it is.

Compare three numbers over the same period on both systems. Time to first response. Number of follow up touches before a lead goes cold. Appointments set and appointments kept. Those three tell you more than any side by side feature grid, because they measure what your people actually did rather than what the software could theoretically do.

Before you start, settle the boring questions. What can you export from your current system, in what format, and does communication history come with it? Which website forms, lead providers, chat tools and phone numbers point at your CRM today, and who repoints them? Who owns the customer data? Our migration checklist covers the order to do these in, and it is written to be used with any vendor, not only with us.

Questions worth asking every vendor on your list

Take these into every demo, ours included, and write the answers down. They separate vendors faster than a feature comparison does.

What is the real monthly total with every module I need, and what does it become at renewal? How long is the commitment and what is the cancellation process in writing? Exactly what can I export if I leave, in what format, and does it include text and call history? Who owns the customer data? What does support look like at six on a Saturday evening, which is when it matters? If leads are included, are they exclusive to my store, how is my territory drawn, and what happens when a lead is bad? How fast do you ship a fix, and who decides?

Vendors that are comfortable being pinned down in writing tend to be the ones still worth having in year three. If you would rather ask us directly than sit through a presentation, contact us or call 844-376-2274.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LeadLocate a direct replacement for DriveCentric?

For lead management, texting and calling, follow up, campaigns, reporting and desking it covers the same ground and adds lead supply, a voice stack and credit applications. It is not an OEM certified CRM, so a franchise store with manufacturer CRM requirements should confirm those first.

Do we have to buy leads to use the CRM?

No. CRM Only is $199 per month and includes the software, the communication tools and the desking engine. Lead programs are separate and start at $799 per month for inbound buyer leads.

Can we run both systems at the same time during a change?

Yes, and we recommend it. Plan on two to four weeks of overlap. Cutting over with nothing running behind you is the most common way stores lose leads during a transition.

What happens to our data if we leave LeadLocate?

It is yours. Ask that question of every vendor you are evaluating, get the answer in writing before you sign rather than during your exit, and confirm whether communication history is included in the export.

Are the seller leads sourced from listings?

No. Seller leads are inbound and opt in. A local owner fills out one of our vehicle offer request pages and asks to be contacted by a dealership about selling their vehicle. Nothing is harvested from anywhere.

How quickly can a store be live?

Much faster than an enterprise CRM implementation, because there is less to configure. The realistic limit is your team's adoption rather than setup, which is why we suggest one team or one store first.
