DriveCentric vs LeadLocate: Automotive CRM Comparison
One is a CRM you bring leads to. The other supplies the leads and the software together. That single difference drives most of the rest.
The one difference everything else follows from
A CRM assumes leads arrive from somewhere else. That assumption is invisible until you add up what you spend making it true. Third party lead providers, paid search, a chat vendor, a landing page tool, retargeting, and the time somebody in your store spends every week reconciling which lead came from where.
LeadLocate is built the other way around. Lead generation is the product and the CRM exists to work those leads, so the supply and the software are on the same bill and in the same reporting. DriveCentric is a CRM in the traditional sense: you bring your own lead flow to it, and it is built to make your people communicate with those leads more and better.
Neither approach is automatically better. If your lead supply is already solid and priced well, buying it again bundled is not progress. If you are stitching four vendors together and arguing with them about attribution every month, consolidation is worth real money and real attention.
Everything below reflects public information and our own product. Features, packaging and terms change on both sides, so verify anything that will drive your decision with each vendor directly before you sign.
What DriveCentric emphasizes
DriveCentric came into the market as a modern alternative to legacy automotive CRM, and the theme running through its reputation is engagement. Video messaging, a communication centered layout, texting, and AI assisted features are what dealers most often name when they describe it. It serves both franchise and independent stores.
The reason that matters is adoption, which is the problem every CRM vendor claims to have solved and very few actually have. A system your salespeople open without being told to is worth more than a system with twice the feature count that they avoid. If your floor has genuinely adopted what you have, treat that as an asset on the balance sheet before you consider replacing it.
We are not going to characterize DriveCentric's pricing, contract length or specific current capabilities, because we do not have standing to and because those change. Ask them. Then ask us the same questions and compare the two answers side by side rather than reading a vendor's summary of a competitor.
What LeadLocate covers, module by module
Here is the actual surface, because vague capability language is how comparison pages waste a reader's time.
Leads. Lead inbox and detail views, contacts and contact import, lead feeds and custom source feeds, global distribution with rules and distribution lists, lead history, blacklist with import, trash bin, disputes and replacement review.
Communication. SMS and MMS threading, SMS campaigns, RCS with SMS fallback, an email inbox with composer and archive, email campaigns and bulk email, click to call with a VoIP softphone, call forwarding, trigger calls, call recording with transcription, voicemail recording and voicemail drop.
Automation. Automations and automation lists, task automation, follow up processes, drip leads with a drip editor, reminders, appointments and a calendar with its own settings.
Deals. DealTracker desking and EZ Desking covering loan and lease, a fifty state tax matrix, semimonthly payment frequency, trade credit caps, three lease tax methods, deal jackets, deal chats, print templates and customer facing deal pages with electronic signature.
Around the edges. Lead pages with per page URL settings, personal salesperson websites, a free live chat widget, paid ads and targeting, Leads Manager with a zone editor, referral and affiliate accounts, document AI for VIN scanning and document reading, three reporting layers, role based user management and a login log.
Side by side
| DriveCentric | LeadLocate | |
|---|---|---|
| Product category | Automotive CRM | Lead generation platform with a CRM built in |
| Lead supply | You bring your own sources | Exclusive territory leads included in most plans |
| Seller side acquisition | Verify with the vendor | Opt in seller leads from local owners in your zone |
| Voice stack | Verify with the vendor | IVR, call routing, number management, softphone, transcription |
| Desking | Verify with the vendor | Loan and lease, fifty state tax matrix, three lease tax methods |
| Credit applications | Verify with the vendor | Secure applications and apply links through SecureWebX |
| Websites | Verify with the vendor | Lead pages, salesperson sites, live chat widget |
| DMS connection required | Verify with the vendor | Not required to operate |
| Contract | Verify with the vendor | Month to month, no long term contract |
| Published entry price | Verify with the vendor | CRM Only $199/mo, lead programs from $799/mo |
The rows we have left as verify with the vendor are deliberate. We will not invent a competitor's pricing or feature set to win a comparison, and you should be suspicious of any page that does.
The BDC and voice question
If you run a BDC, or you are thinking about building one, this is where the two products are least alike and where you should spend your evaluation time.
LeadLocate includes a full inbound voice stack through AutoMail: a BDC phone system, an IVR with call routing, media and number management, call forwarding, call history and logs, plus a mail center for outbound and inbound message handling. On the CRM side that connects to click to call, the softphone, call recording and transcription, and voicemail drop.
The practical effect is that a five person BDC can run inbound routing, outbound dialing, message drops and call review inside one system rather than gluing a phone vendor to a CRM and hoping the logs match. Transcription is the part managers underestimate. Reading a call takes thirty seconds. Listening to it takes eleven minutes, which is why call review is the first thing that gets skipped in a busy week.
Whatever you decide, ask both vendors what happens to a call at 7:40pm on a Saturday when nobody picks up, and follow that lead's path all the way to the next morning. That single question exposes more about a system than an hour of slides. The BDC software page goes deeper on the routing side.
Choose DriveCentric if
Straight talk, because switching for the wrong reason costs a quarter.
- Your team has adopted it and you are getting real activity data rather than self reported activity.
- Video messaging is central to how your salespeople sell and your customers actually respond to it.
- Your lead sources are producing at a cost per sale you are satisfied with, so bundled lead supply adds nothing.
- You have integrations wired in that produce measurable results and would take real work to rebuild elsewhere.
- Your group standard or manufacturer relationship points at a specific approved system and this is on the list.
None of those are things a competitor can talk you out of, and we would not try.
Choose LeadLocate if
The case gets strong when several of these are true at once rather than just one.
- You want exclusive local leads and the software to work them from the same vendor, on one invoice, with one set of numbers.
- You are paying separately for a dialer, texting, chat, landing pages or a desking tool and would rather consolidate.
- You want the acquisition side. Opt in seller leads come from local owners who asked to be contacted about selling, and the seller leads page explains how that works.
- You sell in more than one state and want one desking engine with a fifty state tax matrix instead of a spreadsheet somebody built years ago.
- You need secure credit applications and shareable apply links you can text to a customer, with consent and compliance records kept.
- Contract length matters to you and you want the ability to leave the month we stop earning it.
- You are an independent store, a broker or an individual salesperson, and you do not have a dealer management system connection or an inventory feed. Neither is required.
What we deliberately do not claim
A comparison page is only useful if it tells you where the product stops. LeadLocate is not a dealer management system and does not try to be. There is no general ledger, no accounts payable or receivable, no payroll, no deal posting to accounting, no title and registration work, no parts inventory, no repair orders, no service scheduling and no technician time clock. If you need those, you need a DMS, and you keep the one you have while running our CRM and lead layer alongside it.
On the F&I side we do secure credit application intake, apply links, consent and compliance record keeping, document collection and worksheets. We do not do eContracting with lenders, direct lender portal integration, or menu selling with product rating. Those are real functions and we are not going to pretend to have them.
We also make no guarantees about outcomes. We do not promise lead counts, close rates, credit quality or sales results, because those depend on the consumer and on your process, not on us. What we will do is show you the platform running, price it month to month, and let the first thirty days argue the case.
How to decide in three weeks instead of three months
Comparison shopping software drags on because dealers try to evaluate everything. Evaluate the things that change your month.
Week one: pull your own baseline. Time to first response by source, follow up touches per lead before it goes cold, appointments set and kept, and cost per sold unit by lead source. If you cannot pull those from your current system, that is itself a finding.
Week two: run a live pilot with one team and a defined slice of lead flow, not a sandbox with fake customers. Watch what people do when nobody is standing behind them.
Week three: compare the same four numbers, then ask the team which system they would rather work in and take that answer seriously. Adoption beats capability every time.
Meanwhile settle the exit questions with both vendors: what exports, in what format, does communication history come with it, who owns the data, and what is the cancellation process in writing. Our migration checklist lays out the order. If you want to see ours running first, the demo is a faster starting point than a scheduled call.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can LeadLocate replace a CRM outright, or is it only a lead source?
It replaces the CRM. Lead management, SMS and MMS, RCS, email, calling with a softphone, recording and transcription, automations, drips, appointments, desking and reporting are all included. Lead generation is sold on top of it, not instead of it.
Do you offer video messaging?
Our communication stack covers SMS and MMS, RCS with SMS fallback, email, calling with transcription and voicemail drop. If video messaging is central to how your team sells, weigh that carefully and ask us what is current before you decide.
How is territory defined for the lead programs?
You choose a zone around your store and every submitted lead inside it is delivered to you exclusively rather than resold. We map zones with you so two stores you own do not compete against each other for the same shopper.
Is an inventory feed required?
No. Neither an inventory feed nor a dealer management system connection is required, which is why brokers and individual salespeople can run on the platform. If you have a feed, Inventory Link ingests it and advertises your live vehicles.
What does it cost to try both at once?
CRM Only is $199 per month and lead programs start at $799. Because there is no long term contract, running a one team pilot alongside your current system for a month is a small, bounded expense rather than a commitment.
Do you provide references from other dealers?
Ask us and we will talk about what stores actually do with the platform. We do not publish invented statistics, customer counts or testimonials on marketing pages, and you should treat any vendor page that does with some suspicion.
Compare the two on your own lead flow
Book a walkthrough and we will map your territory, show the voice stack and desking engine working, and give you a real monthly number. Month to month, cancel when it stops earning.
