Team Velocity Alternative for Car Dealerships

One is a full service marketing partner. The other supplies exclusive local leads with a CRM around them. They are not the same purchase.

Dealers shop for a Team Velocity alternative when they want lead supply rather than campaign management, simpler month to month terms, or fewer vendors between them and their own data. LeadLocate is a lead generation platform with a full CRM built in, sold month to month. Whether that is the right swap depends on how much agency execution you actually want to keep.

Name the reason before you shop

Searches for a marketing vendor alternative almost always start after one specific frustration, and naming it first saves a lot of wasted demo time. In our experience the reasons sort into four groups, and only three of them are solved by changing vendors.

You want lead supply, not campaign management. You are paying for advertising execution and what you actually need is more people to call. That is a real reason to look, because it is a different product category rather than a better version of the same one.

Cost structure and commitment. The term is longer than you wanted, the retainer covers work you cannot easily audit, or the media and the management fee are hard to separate on an invoice. Real reason to look.

Vendor sprawl. One company for marketing, another for CRM, a third for lead sources, and your team spends its week reconciling three sets of numbers that never agree. Consolidating is a real reason to look.

Sales process problems blamed on marketing. Leads are not worked, follow up dies at the second touch, response time is measured in hours. Changing marketing vendors will not fix this. It will produce more leads that go unworked and a bigger invoice. Be clear eyed here, because this is how stores end up switching again in eighteen months.

What Team Velocity is built for

Team Velocity is an automotive marketing company that sells a technology platform together with campaign execution. Public positioning centers on data driven and predictive marketing: using customer and market data to decide who to talk to, then running the campaigns across channels including websites, digital advertising, email and direct mail, with heavy emphasis on the franchise dealer and OEM program side.

The shape of the purchase matters more than the feature list. You are buying a partner that plans and executes, not a tool your BDC manager configures on a Tuesday. For a store without marketing staff, that is a genuine advantage. Somebody else owns the calendar, the creative and the reporting, and the dealer gets a review meeting instead of a project.

The franchise angle is also real. Manufacturer co op programs, tier three requirements and OEM approved vendor lists are their own world, and a vendor that already lives inside it removes friction a general purpose tool cannot.

Offerings, packaging and terms change over time, and we do not have visibility into anybody's current rate card. Verify current capability, pricing and contract terms directly with the vendor rather than relying on any comparison page, this one included.

What LeadLocate is built for

LeadLocate came from the other direction. It is a lead generation platform first, with a full CRM built around it, sold to dealerships and to individual salespeople on month to month terms.

The lead side delivers exclusive local leads. You define a territory around your store using the Leads Manager zone editor, and leads inside that zone come to you rather than being resold to three other rooftops. There are two families. Inbound buyer leads from in market shoppers, and opt in seller leads from local owners who filled out a vehicle offer request and asked to be contacted about selling. The buyer leads are a mix of VIN specific shoppers and people describing what they want in general terms, and we will not promise you a ratio. Nothing is filtered or scored. We ask pre screening questions at capture, deliver every submitted lead in your zone exclusively, and handle problems through post delivery replacement review rather than a quality claim made up front.

The CRM side is where dealers are usually surprised. Lead inbox and distribution with rules, SMS and MMS, RCS with automatic SMS fallback, a click to call VoIP softphone, call recording with transcription, voicemail drop, email with a real inbox and composer, bulk email, automations and follow up processes, drip campaigns with an editor, appointments and reminders, DealTracker desking covering loan and lease with a fifty state tax matrix, deal jackets, lead pages, personal salesperson websites, a free live chat widget for your site, document AI for VIN scanning, and three layers of reporting.

Plus tools most dealers do not expect to find inside a CRM: an email validator, a phone validator, email domain authentication, and IVR with call routing through AutoMail. See the full feature rundown if you want the detail.

Choose Team Velocity if

Stay where you are, or choose them over us, if several of these describe your store. We would rather say it now than have you switch and switch back.

  • You have no marketing staff and you want a partner who owns planning, creative and execution rather than a platform your people have to run.
  • You are a franchise point where OEM co op and tier three program alignment affects real money, and you want a vendor already fluent in that world.
  • Your website is part of the same relationship and you do not want to unbundle it. We are not a full dealer website vendor and we will not pretend to be.
  • Direct mail and multi channel owner marketing are central to how you go to market, and the production side matters as much as the targeting.
  • The current programs are producing and you can prove it with your own numbers rather than the vendor's dashboard.

That last point is the one to be honest about. If the campaigns are working, a lower invoice is not a reason to move.

Choose LeadLocate if

The case for us is strongest when several of these are true at once.

  • Your bottleneck is people to call, not campaign sophistication. Exclusive local leads inside a territory you define solve a supply problem directly.
  • You want leads and CRM from one vendor on one bill instead of stitching a marketing company to a separate CRM.
  • Contract length is a sticking point. Month to month means we have to earn the business every month, and leaving is your decision rather than a negotiation.
  • You are independent, or a used car operation, or a buy here pay here store, where franchise and OEM program depth is surface area you pay for and never use.
  • You want acquisition as well as buyers. Opt in seller leads from local owners are a different supply line than owner marketing to your existing base.
  • You want individual salespeople able to run on the platform, with their own site and their own pipeline, not just the store.
  • You do not have or do not want to depend on a DMS connection or an inventory feed. Neither is required to operate.

If the acquisition side is the pressure point, how seller leads work explains the mechanics before you talk to anybody.

Agency execution versus in house control

This is the real decision underneath the vendor comparison, and it is worth separating from price entirely.

Agency execution buys you time and expertise. Somebody else builds the campaign, produces the creative, watches the spend and shows up with a report. The cost is distance. You are one step removed from your own data, changes move at the speed of a request queue, and when something is not working you are debating a dashboard rather than looking at the record.

In house control buys you speed and visibility. A campaign change happens in the afternoon. You can open a lead, read the call transcription, see who touched it and when, and know exactly why a source is or is not producing. The cost is that somebody at your store has to own it, and if nobody does, the tools sit unused and you have made things worse.

Be honest about which describes your store today. A dealership with an engaged BDC manager and a GM who reads reports will get far more out of a platform than out of a retainer. A store where marketing is whatever the dealer principal thinks about on Sunday night is better served by a partner, at least until that changes.

There is a middle path most people miss. Keep the agency for the channels that genuinely need production work, and bring lead supply and follow up in house. Those are separable purchases, and treating them as one bundle is usually the vendor's preference rather than yours. Our page on dealership marketing software lays out which pieces are which.

What a switch actually costs beyond the invoice

The subscription difference is usually the smallest number in a vendor change. The costs that hurt are the ones nobody quotes.

  1. Data. Establish what you can export and in what format before you give notice, not after. Ask specifically whether communication history comes with it, and whether you can run the export yourself.
  2. Overlap. Plan on paying two vendors for a few weeks. Cutting over with no overlap is the most common way stores lose leads during a change.
  3. Adoption. The real cost. Expect a productivity dip for two to four weeks while habits reset. Budget management attention, not just training hours.
  4. Repointing. Every third party that currently posts leads into your system has to be redirected. Website forms, chat, third party providers, phone tracking. Make the list before you start.
  5. Reporting continuity. Pull the historical reports you will want to compare against next year while you still have access to them.

Our migration checklist works through this in order and is written to be used with any vendor, not just us.

You also do not have to bet the store to find out. Run one team or one lead source on the new platform for three to four weeks while everything else stays put, and measure time to first response, touches per lead before the trail goes cold, and appointments set. Those three tell you more than any demo. Month to month pricing exists so that is possible.

Questions to ask both vendors, including us

Take these into every meeting. The answers separate vendors faster than a feature list does.

What is the total monthly cost with everything I actually need, and what does it renew at? How much of that is media and how much is management? What is the contract length and the cancellation process? What exactly can I export if I leave, in what format, and does it include communication history? Who owns the customer data and the ad accounts? If leads are included, are they exclusive to my store and how is the territory defined? What happens when a lead is bad? How long does implementation take and what does my store have to supply? What does support look like at six on a Saturday evening?

Write the answers down. Vendors comfortable being pinned down in writing tend to be the ones still worth having in year three, and the ones who deflect are telling you something.

One last thing we will say plainly, because it is the honest limit of this page. We cannot guarantee lead volume, appointment counts, close rates or sold units, and neither can anybody else, because those depend on your market, your inventory and your team. Be suspicious of any answer that involves guaranteed results. If you want ours answered live, the demo is the place to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LeadLocate a direct replacement for Team Velocity?

Not exactly. They sell marketing platform plus agency execution, including websites and multi channel owner campaigns. We supply exclusive local leads with a full CRM around them. If your gap is lead supply and follow up, it is a clean swap. If it is campaign production and OEM program work, it is not.

Do you build dealer websites?

No. We are not a full dealer website vendor and we are not an OEM compliant website provider. What we do offer is lead pages for campaign landing pages, personal salesperson websites, and a free live chat widget you can put on the site you already have.

Can we keep our marketing agency and still use LeadLocate?

Yes, and plenty of stores do. Lead supply, CRM and follow up are separable from campaign production. Keep the agency for the channels that need it and bring the lead layer in house on a month to month basis.

Are the leads exclusive to our store?

Yes. You define a territory with the Leads Manager zone editor and leads in that zone are delivered to you and not resold to other dealerships. Nothing is filtered or scored, and every submitted lead in your zone is delivered.

What does it cost to find out whether it works?

CRM Only starts at $199 a month if you have your own lead sources. Plans that include exclusive local leads start at $799, with a seller side from $999 and both together from $1,599. Everything is month to month with no long term contract.

How do we compare two vendors fairly?

Pick three numbers and measure both on the same period: time to first response, follow up touches per lead before it goes cold, and appointments set. Vendor dashboards are not comparable to each other. Those three are.
