Numa Alternative for Car Dealerships

Where an AI answering product and a full lead platform overlap, where they do not, and how to tell which problem you actually have.

Dealers look for a Numa alternative when they want more than call answering: lead generation, a full CRM, desking and campaigns from one vendor. LeadLocate is a lead platform with a CRM, communications and an inbound voice stack built in, sold month to month. Whether it is the right swap depends on whether your problem is the phone or the pipeline.

Name the problem before you shop the category

Almost every store that starts looking at answering software is reacting to one of four specific pains, and they do not all have the same fix.

The phone rings and nobody picks it up. Service drive at 8:15 on a Monday, sales floor at noon on a Saturday. Calls abandon and you never know what they wanted. This is a call handling problem and answering software addresses it directly.

Missed calls never get called back. The call is logged, and then nothing happens, because the person who should return it is with a customer. This is a follow up problem. Software helps, but only the kind that owns the follow up after the call, not just the moment of it.

You do not have enough opportunities. Your team answers everything and there still is not enough volume. No answering product fixes this, because it can only work the traffic you already have. This is a lead generation problem and it is a different purchase entirely.

Everything is in a different system. Calls here, texts there, leads somewhere else, and no single record of a customer. That is a platform problem, and it is the one that most often makes a store consolidate vendors.

What Numa is built for

Numa is known in the automotive market as an AI powered communication product aimed squarely at the dealership phone. Its positioning centers on answering calls that would otherwise be missed, handling the conversation by text, and routing what needs a person to a person. Fixed operations is where it is most visible, because that is where the abandoned call problem is worst.

That focus is a strength, not a limitation. A product built around one workflow tends to handle that workflow better than a platform where it is one module of thirty. If your single biggest measurable leak is calls that ring out during the morning rush, a purpose built answering product is a rational purchase and you should evaluate it on that basis.

We are not going to characterize their pricing, their contract terms, their model behavior or their current feature set, because those change and because guessing at a competitor's specifics is how comparison pages become wrong. Ask Numa directly, get the answers in writing, and verify anything that will drive your decision with the vendor rather than with any comparison page, this one included.

What LeadLocate is built for

LeadLocate started from lead generation and grew a full CRM around it, and the voice stack came later as part of the same platform rather than as a standalone product.

On the lead side you pick a territory around your store and leads inside that zone come to you exclusively rather than being resold to three competitors. There are inbound buyer leads from in market shoppers and opt in seller leads from local owners who filled out a vehicle offer request and asked to be contacted. Nothing is filtered or scored. Every submitted lead in your zone is delivered, and lead problems are handled by post delivery replacement review rather than by a quality promise made up front.

On the communication side there is an inbound voice stack with IVR, call routing and call forwarding, plus a mail center and number management. In the CRM there is SMS and MMS, RCS with automatic SMS fallback, a click to call dialer with a VoIP softphone, voicemail recording and voicemail drop, call recording with transcription, email with a real inbox and composer, and bulk email with recipient management.

Then the parts an answering product does not carry: automations and follow up processes, drip campaigns, appointments and reminders, desking covering loan and lease with a fifty state tax matrix, lead pages, salesperson websites, and three layers of reporting.

Choose Numa if

We would rather tell you this now than have you switch and switch back in five months.

  • Your measurable, provable leak is inbound calls abandoning, particularly in service, and you want a product designed around exactly that.
  • You want a conversational agent that holds a real back and forth with a caller and books from that conversation, rather than a menu and a routing rule.
  • Your CRM is fine, your lead volume is fine, and you are buying one capability rather than replacing a stack.
  • Fixed operations is the department funding the purchase and the sales side is not part of the decision.
  • You already have lead sources you are satisfied with and do not need a vendor to supply opportunities.

If that describes you, buying a focused product and keeping everything else is the lower risk move.

Choose LeadLocate if

The case for us is strongest when several of these are true together.

  • You need more opportunities, not just better handling of the ones you have, and you want the lead source and the system that works them on one bill.
  • You want exclusive local leads in a territory you define rather than shared internet leads three stores are calling at once.
  • Your customer record is scattered across a CRM, a texting tool, a phone system and a spreadsheet, and you want one profile.
  • You want the whole path in one place: lead in, message out, appointment set, deal desked, customer deal page signed.
  • Contract length is a sticking point and you want the freedom to leave any month if we stop earning it.
  • You do not have, or do not want to depend on, a DMS integration or an inventory feed. Neither is required to operate.

The BDC software page covers the workflow side in more depth.

The honest gap, stated plainly

We are not going to pretend we are the same category, because you would find out in the demo anyway.

LeadLocate does not sell a conversational AI voice agent that answers the phone, understands what a caller wants and negotiates an appointment slot in natural speech. What we provide on inbound voice is an IVR with routing and forwarding, number and media management, call history and logs, click to call, voicemail drop, and call recording with transcription so a manager can read a twelve minute call in thirty seconds. That is a genuinely useful stack and it is not the same thing as an AI receptionist.

We also do not sell shop management software. No repair orders, no technician time or dispatch, no shop loading, no parts inventory, no warranty claims, and no service scheduling tied to bay capacity. Anything you read about our fixed operations value is about communication, follow up and turning service traffic into vehicle sales, which is real, and not about running the department. The service CRM page draws that line in detail.

If your entire requirement sits inside the gap, buy the other product. That is not a hard thing to say.

What to test in thirty days instead of arguing in a demo

Demos are performances. A short, measured trial is the only comparison that has ever settled this for a store.

Pick three numbers before you start and write them down: median time to first response on a new opportunity, number of follow up touches before a trail goes cold, and appointments set per hundred opportunities. Measure your current baseline for two weeks. Then run the candidate on a defined slice of flow, one team or one department, for four weeks, and measure the same three.

Do not change two things at once. If you switch products and rewrite your scripts in the same month, you will never know which one moved the number. Keep the scripts, change the software, then improve the scripts afterward.

Month to month pricing exists so this is possible. A vendor that requires a long commitment before you can evaluate is asking you to carry a risk they are not willing to carry themselves. If the trial goes badly you have lost a month and learned something real. If it goes well you expand on evidence. We cannot guarantee any particular result from a trial, and neither can anyone else, because the outcome depends on your market and your team.

Questions to put to both vendors, including us

Take these into every demo. They separate vendors faster than any feature grid.

What is the total monthly cost with every module I actually need, and what is the price at renewal? What is the contract length, and what is the exact cancellation process and notice period? What can I export if I leave, in what format, and does it include call recordings, transcripts and message history? Who owns the phone numbers? What happens to a number I have advertised for six years when the contract ends?

Then the operational ones. How long does implementation take, and what does my store have to supply? What does support look like at 6pm on a Saturday? How does the product behave when a customer says something it does not understand, and what is the escalation path to a human? How is consent captured and stored for calls and texts, and can I produce it later? If leads are included, are they exclusive to my store and how is my territory defined?

Write the answers down. Vendors comfortable being pinned down in writing tend to be the ones still worth having in year three. Ours are on the demo, or contact us and ask directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LeadLocate a direct replacement for Numa?

Not feature for feature. We do not sell a conversational AI voice agent that answers calls in natural speech. We provide IVR, call routing and forwarding, transcription, texting with RCS and SMS fallback, plus the CRM, campaigns and desking that sit behind them.

Can LeadLocate answer missed calls automatically?

Calls can be routed and forwarded through the IVR, and follow up processes can fire a text or a voicemail drop after a missed call. That is automation on a rule, not an agent holding a conversation. Verify that distinction matters to you before choosing.

Does LeadLocate include leads, or just software?

Both are available. CRM Only starts at $199 per month if you have your own sources. Plans that include exclusive local leads start at $799 per month, with seller lead and hybrid plans above that. See the pricing page.

Do we need a DMS integration or an inventory feed?

No. Neither is required, which is why brokers and individual salespeople run on the platform. If you do have an inventory feed, Inventory Link can ingest it and advertise your actual vehicles.

Can we run both products at once?

Yes, and for a lot of stores that is the sensible answer. An answering product on the service phone and a lead platform on the sales side do not conflict. Decide by department rather than by vendor loyalty.

Will switching improve our appointment rate?

We cannot guarantee it, and no vendor honestly can, because it depends on your market, your staffing and your scripts. What we can do is show the same three metrics measured before and after on a defined slice of your flow.
