Car Sales Leads with Google Ads

Search, Vehicle Ads, Maps, YouTube and Gmail from one account, aimed at the shoppers who are already typing what they want.

Google Ads is the advertising account behind Google Search, Maps, YouTube, Gmail and Google Vehicle Ads, where car shoppers with intent type what they want. For a car dealership the question is whether it produces sales leads in the market the store sells in. LeadLocate runs it from the same Leads Manager as every other channel, through the included webXintel Ads Network or a placement in the dealership's name, and every lead lands in one CRM with its source attached.

What Google Ads is, in dealership terms

Google Ads is one account that reaches every surface Google owns. On Search it shows a text ad when someone in your zone types a make, a model, a payment or the words used trucks near me. On Maps it promotes the store's pin and directions. Google Vehicle Ads take the store's inventory feed and show a shopper the specific units that match their search, with photo, price and mileage, in the results themselves. YouTube carries video before and inside the content people watch, Gmail and Discover carry visual ads inside the inbox and the feed, and Performance Max lets one campaign run across all of it with the platform deciding the mix.

What distinguishes Google from every other channel on this site is intent. The shopper has typed something. A person searching for a specific trim with financing is further along than anyone a social feed can find, and the ad appears at the moment of the question. For a dealership that means search is the channel that captures demand rather than creating it, and the one whose results are easiest to read.

Connecting your own Google Ads account to the CRM has its own page: Connect Google Ads to Your Dealership CRM. This page is about the channel and the leads.

Why a dealership would spend money on Google Ads

A store spends on Google because someone in its market is searching for what it sells right now, and the store either shows up or a competitor does. Branded search matters as much as generic: when a shopper who saw a billboard or a streaming spot searches the store's name, a competitor can buy that name and sit above the store's own listing. Vehicle Ads matter because they put the store's actual units, with prices, in front of a shopper comparing options, and a shopper who clicks a specific unit is close to a visit.

The honest objection is cost. Automotive search terms are among the most expensive clicks in local advertising, because every dealer, every marketplace and every lender bids on them, and a badly built account burns budget on broad terms and irrelevant clicks. The second objection is that search only reaches people already looking, so it does not grow the pool; it fights over it. Stores that pair search with a channel that creates demand, then defend their own name on search, get the most from it. Stores that run search alone and wonder why volume plateaus have found its ceiling.

For the broader case for this kind of channel, Google Ads Management for Car Dealerships covers it without repeating what is here.

Who Google Ads fits, and who it does not

Google fits any dealership with inventory to show and a market that searches, which is every dealership. Franchise stores with a live feed get the most from Vehicle Ads, since the ad shows the unit, and groups can run a campaign per rooftop with separate geography. Independent and used stores lean on search and Maps. Brokers and stores without a feed run search and YouTube; a feed is not required for those, only for Vehicle Ads.

It fits less well for a store that wants to spend a small amount and see leads immediately, because a new account needs weeks of data before the automated bidding settles, and for a store whose website cannot convert the click into an inquiry. Search sends a shopper to a page; what the page does next decides the lead.

How LeadLocate runs Google Ads for your store

The practical question is whose login the campaigns live under. With the webXintel Ads Network, which every plan includes, they live under ours: you choose the zone, the campaign type and the pre screening questions in Leads Manager, and our team does the building and the daily management. With your own Google Ads account they live under yours. Request the connection from the Advertising Networks page in the CRM, our team completes the setup, usually the same day, and from then on the media is billed by Google Ads to your dealership and the account history belongs to you. Agencies that already manage a Google Ads account for the store can keep it; we work inside it. That single account reaches . The two paths are not exclusive, and moving between them is a request, not a project.

What a Google Ads lead looks like when it reaches the CRM

A Google lead usually arrives through a page: a LeadLocate lead page built for the campaign, a vehicle detail page with a form, a tracked phone number, or a lead form extension on the ad itself. It carries the search term that produced it where the platform exposes that, the vehicle if the ad was a Vehicle Ad, and the form answers. A shopper from search tends to have a specific unit or a specific question, and the record shows it.

From that point the lead behaves like every other lead in LeadLocate. It is stamped with the channel and the campaign, it lands with the salesperson or the round robin you set in lead distribution, and the first touch can fire on its own, a text, an email or a task, before anyone opens it. Stores that keep working leads in a different CRM switch on Instant Push, and the lead is forwarded by ADF as it arrives; the price does not change for that. One thing worth saying on every channel page: the shopper decides what to submit. A person with a VIN picked out and a person with a payment in mind are both leads, and what to expect from car sales leads explains why that mix is normal.

One CRM for every channel you run

The point of running Google Ads through LeadLocate is not Google Ads. It is that Google Ads becomes one more line in a system that already holds everything else. Leads Manager is where the campaigns are planned, whatever the channel: the zone, the campaign type, the questions a shopper answers, the creative. The CRM is where the leads land, are distributed, are worked by text, email, call and voicemail drop, and are reported on in the activity, company and management reports. A store that adds Google Ads does not add a login, a report or a vendor to chase; it adds a source. The same is true of the dozens of other channels on the advertising channels page, which is the list the CRM itself shows a dealership under Advertising Networks.

That matters more than it sounds. Most stores do not fail at advertising because a channel was wrong; they fail because the leads from the third and fourth channels never got worked, since nobody was watching that inbox. One inbox, one set of distribution rules and one follow up process is what makes a fourth channel worth adding at all, and the same reporting is what lets a manager see, in one place, which channel is earning its budget this month and which one is not.

For agencies that manage Google Ads for dealerships

Search is the account agencies protect most, because it holds the history the automated bidding learned from, and LeadLocate is built around that reality. The agency keeps its Google account and its management of it, connects it or requests placement for a store, and the leads flow into that dealership's CRM with the search campaign named as the source. The agency gets what it usually cannot show the dealer: what the salespeople did with the click.

If an agency runs Google Ads for your store today, nothing about that has to change. The agency connects the account it already manages, or requests the placement through us, and the leads flow into your LeadLocate CRM where your salespeople work them and your managers can see the follow up. The agency sees the same reports you do. For the agency, the appeal is practical: one platform for every channel and every client instead of twenty consoles, a real CRM behind the campaigns without having to build or license one, and a lead flow from the webXintel Ads Network it can offer any dealership on day one. The referral program in the CRM pays agencies for stores they bring. More on the arrangement at automotive-advertising-agency-alternativeL.

Targeting the market you actually sell in

Nobody drives across three states for a sedan, so the market Google Ads is bought in is the market you draw. Leads Manager's zone editor takes a radius, counties or a state and hands it to every channel you run, including this one, and the reporting comes back by that zone so you can see which part of your area actually answers, which is often not the part a store expected. Groups run separate zones per rooftop; brokers and national sellers open the map up. On financing campaigns the audience is not narrowed by protected characteristics, because fair lending rules do not allow it and the controls in Leads Manager are locked accordingly. Geography and vehicle targeting stay fully in your hands.

Getting started with Google Ads through LeadLocate

Two steps. First, if your dealership is not on the platform, pick a plan on the pricing page; every plan is month to month with no long term contract, and every plan includes the webXintel Ads Network. Second, from Leads Manager inside the CRM, open Advertising Networks and request Google Ads. Our team handles the setup, usually the same day, and the campaign is planned from your zone and your selections. Spend on an account you own is billed to you by Google Ads; there is no markup on it from us. If the store's process lives in another CRM, Instant Push forwards each lead there by ADF.

Expect a short conversation before anything runs: which vehicles, which zone, which questions a shopper should answer, what a fair trial of Google Ads looks like in your market and when to review it. Then the campaign runs and the reporting does the talking. A channel that earns its place stays; one that does not is turned off from the same page, and the store keeps the leads, the records and the history either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an inventory feed to run Google Ads?

Not for search, Maps, YouTube or Performance Max. You need one for Google Vehicle Ads, which show specific units in the results. Inventory Link is the LeadLocate product that ingests a store's feed; tell us in the request if you want Vehicle Ads and our team will say what applies.

Should my dealership bid on its own name?

Yes. Competitors and marketplaces buy dealership names, and a branded search click is the cheapest and most certain click in the account. Defending the name also protects every other channel, because a shopper who saw the store on streaming TV or a billboard usually searches the name next.

How long before a new Google Ads account settles?

Plan on four to six weeks before the automated bidding has enough conversions to be stable. Judging the account in week one is how stores conclude that search does not work; it does, but it learns from data it does not have yet.

Do I need my own Google Ads account to run it through LeadLocate?

No. The webXintel Ads Network is included with every plan and needs no account of yours. If you want campaigns under an account your dealership owns, request the connection from the Advertising Networks page and our team sets it up, or connects the Google Ads account you or your agency already hold.

Can Google Ads leads go into the CRM we already use?

Yes. Turn on Instant Push in the CRM settings and every lead is forwarded to your existing CRM by ADF the moment it arrives, with its source attached. The subscription price is the same whether you work leads in LeadLocate or forward them.

What does LeadLocate charge for Google Ads?

The platform is a monthly subscription, month to month with no long term contract; the plans are on the pricing page and each includes the webXintel Ads Network. Media you buy through your own Google Ads account is billed by Google Ads to you, not marked up by us. We do not tie the price to results, because no one can promise what a shopper will do.
