Dealer Website Personalization Software
Most of what gets sold as personalization is a banner swap. The version that produces appointments is a destination built for one audience.
Three very different things get sold as personalization
Sit through three vendor demos and you will see three products described with the same word. Separating them first saves you from buying the expensive one when the cheap one is what moves your numbers.
Cosmetic personalization. The hero banner changes based on the visitor's city, the weather, or whether they have been to the site before. It demos beautifully. In our experience it moves almost nothing, because a shopper who came to look at a used Tacoma is not persuaded by a headline that says hello Fresno.
Behavioral merchandising. The site remembers the vehicles a visitor viewed and surfaces them again, adjusts recommended inventory, or changes which offer appears on a vehicle detail page. This is real and it can help, particularly on a site with heavy repeat traffic. It is also the piece most tightly bound to your website platform, which means your website vendor usually owns it.
Destination personalization. Instead of trying to reshape one page for everyone, you build a separate page for a specific audience and send that audience to it. The Spanish language financing page. The page for a single model year clearance. The page a specific salesperson sends to their own customers. This is the version that consistently produces measurable lead volume, and it is the version most stores are not doing.
The first two require your website provider. The third does not, which is the part dealers usually miss.
Where we fit and where we do not
Directly, so you can stop reading if this is not what you need. LeadLocate does not sell a dealer website platform. We do not host your main site, we do not run your vehicle detail pages, and we do not inject a personalization layer into a site built by a third party provider. We are also not an OEM compliant website vendor and we will not tell you otherwise, because franchise stores under manufacturer website programs have constraints we do not participate in.
What we do provide is a set of pages that are yours, that you build and change yourself, and that sit alongside whatever site you already run. A landing page builder we call lead pages, with per page URL settings so each page has its own address rather than a query string nobody can read. Personal salesperson websites. Per salesperson inventory sites generated from a template when you have a feed through My Inventory Link. A free live chat widget you can put on the site you already have. And customer facing deal pages, which are the most personalized page in the entire funnel because they contain one specific person's numbers.
If you want the platform conversation instead, our page on the dealer website platform category covers how to evaluate providers, including us not being one.
Lead pages: personalization you can actually ship this week
The reason destination pages beat on site personalization for most stores is speed of iteration. Changing a template on a franchise website program can take a support ticket and two weeks. Building a lead page takes an afternoon and you own the result.
The pattern that works: one page per campaign, per audience, per offer. If you run a first time buyer program, that gets its own page with its own copy, its own form fields and its own phone number. If you run a Spanish language campaign, that is a separate page rather than a translate button. If a single salesperson buys their own social ads, they get a page with their name and their photo on it, because a shopper who clicked on a person expects to land on that person.
Per page URL settings matter more than they sound. A clean, readable address is what makes a page usable in a text message, on a business card, on a service drive sign or read aloud in a radio spot. It is also what makes attribution work, because the destination itself becomes the source signal rather than a tracking parameter that gets stripped the first time somebody shares the link.
The craft of building the page itself is covered on dealership landing page optimization, which goes deeper on form length, above the fold decisions and the mistakes that quietly cost conversions.
Salesperson level personalization, which almost nobody uses
Here is a capability most dealers do not know exists, and it costs nothing extra. Every salesperson on the platform can have their own website. Their name, their photo, their contact detail, and if you have an inventory feed, your live inventory presented under their identity through My Inventory Link.
Why this works is not mysterious. A shopper who has been texting with Marcus for three days and then receives a link to Marcus's page is in a continuous conversation. A shopper who receives a link to a generic corporate site has been handed off to a building. The first one converts better because trust is attached to a person, not a logo.
The operational benefit is quieter but larger. Salespeople build their own audiences anyway. They post on social media, they hand out cards, they text past customers. Right now most of that traffic goes to a site where the store gets the lead and it lands in a round robin queue, which is exactly why salespeople stop sending traffic to the store site and start using their personal phones instead. Giving them a page of their own keeps that activity inside the system where it can be measured, coached and, when they leave, retained.
More detail on that setup is on the salesperson website page.
Chat is the personalization that answers back
Every personalization vendor is trying to guess what a visitor wants. Chat asks them.
We provide a free live chat widget for the site you already run. Not a rented bot with a monthly seat charge, and not a lead resale arrangement where the chat vendor keeps a copy of your conversations. Conversations land in the same platform your team already works in, so a chat that turns into a real opportunity becomes a lead record with the transcript attached rather than an email somebody forwards.
Two things separate chat that works from chat that annoys. First, response speed. A chat window that opens aggressively and then nobody answers is worse than no chat at all, because you have demonstrated inattention at the exact moment somebody raised their hand. Second, continuity. If the shopper gives you a phone number in chat, the follow up should continue by text in the same thread rather than starting over with a call from an unknown number. Because the messaging stack is in the same system, with SMS, MMS and RCS with automatic SMS fallback, that continuity is the default rather than a project.
Our live chat page covers staffing patterns, including the honest version of what happens after 8pm.
The most personalized page you will ever send
Everything above is about a stranger. This part is about a customer who is already in the deal, and it is where personalization stops being a marketing word.
When a deal is worked in the desking tool, the customer can be sent their own page containing their numbers. Their vehicle, their trade, their term options, their payment. Not a photograph of a four square taken on a phone at an angle, which is what most stores still send. The math behind it is the same engine the desk is using, covering loan and lease, a fifty state tax matrix, semimonthly payment frequency, trade credit caps and multiple lease tax methods, so what the customer reads at their kitchen table matches what the manager quoted on the floor.
Those pages support electronic signature, and they carry an access gate rather than sitting on a guessable address, because a page with somebody's payment on it is not a page that should be public. Details are on the desking tool page.
The reason this matters to a personalization conversation is sequencing. Stores spend heavily on making a stranger feel recognized and then send a serious buyer a blurry photo. Fix the second one first. It is cheaper and the audience is worth more.
Personalization has a privacy line, and vendors will walk you across it
The failure mode in this category is not technical. It is a vendor offering to target in ways you are not allowed to target, and presenting it as an advantage.
Financing related marketing sits under fair lending rules. You cannot narrow a financing audience by age, gender, income, marital status, household size, education, language or ZIP. That is not our internal policy, it is the rule. If a personalization vendor offers to show different credit messaging to different visitors based on inferred income or neighborhood, they are handing you liability and calling it a feature. Treat it as disqualifying information about the vendor.
Messaging carries its own line. Consent has to be real, opt outs have to be honored everywhere at once, and a customer who unsubscribed from your service department has unsubscribed from your sales department too. The platform stores personally identifiable information encrypted and honors opt outs across every channel, and our page on TCPA compliance for dealership texting covers the consent side in detail.
One more caution worth saying plainly. We store consumer data, as does every CRM. Any vendor telling you they somehow do not is either confused or being careless with the truth. The right question is not whether data is stored, it is who can access it, how it is protected, and what you get back if you leave.
How to evaluate this without buying theater
A short protocol that has saved dealers real money.
Ask any personalization vendor for the lift measurement methodology before you ask for the feature list. Specifically: what is the control group, over what period, and is the reported metric leads and appointments or is it engagement and time on page. Engagement metrics are where weak products hide. If the answer is that the platform measures its own impact with no holdout, you are being asked to believe rather than to verify.
Then ask who has to make a change when you want to change something. If the answer is a support ticket, price that in. A personalization system your marketing person cannot edit on a Friday afternoon will be stale within a quarter.
Then measure the boring things. Which destination produced the appointment. How fast the first response went out. How many touches happened before the trail went cold. Attribution across sources is built into the platform, and website lead attribution covers how the source signal survives the trip from ad to appointment.
Our pricing is month to month with no long term contract, starting at $199 a month on CRM Only, and lead programs that include exclusive local leads start at $799. Full detail is on the pricing page. We cannot guarantee a conversion lift and neither can anyone else honestly. What we can do is put the pages in your hands and let you measure them yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you replace our dealership website?
No. We do not sell or host a full dealer website platform, and we are not an OEM compliant website vendor. We provide lead pages, salesperson websites, a live chat widget for the site you already run, and customer facing deal pages that sit alongside your existing site.
Can you personalize content on our current website pages?
Not directly. Behavioral merchandising inside your vehicle detail pages belongs to your website provider. What we add are separate destinations you control, plus a chat widget and messaging that continue the conversation after the visit.
What is a lead page and how is it different from a landing page?
It is the same idea, built in house. Lead pages are landing pages you create and publish yourself, each with its own readable URL through per page URL settings, so a page can be used in a text, on a card or in a radio spot and still be attributable.
Can each salesperson have their own site?
Yes. Personal salesperson websites are part of the platform, and with an inventory feed through My Inventory Link each person can present live inventory under their own identity. An inventory feed is not required to use the rest of the platform.
Is targeting shoppers by income or ZIP allowed?
Not for financing related messaging. Fair lending rules forbid narrowing a financing audience by age, gender, income, marital status, household size, education, language or ZIP. A vendor offering to do it is offering you liability.
Will personalization increase our conversion rate?
We cannot guarantee that, and no vendor honestly can. What we can tell you is which pages produced appointments, because attribution and reporting are built in. Measure destinations against a control rather than trusting an engagement number.
