AdRoll Advertising for Car Sales Leads
Retargeting and display that follows the shoppers who visited your website across the web, social and email, from one self serve account.
AdRoll is the retargeting and display platform that follows a store's website visitors across the web, social and email from one self serve account. A dealership on LeadLocate asks for it from the Advertising Networks page inside the CRM and our team sets it up, usually the same day, through the included webXintel Ads Network or under an account in the store's own name. Leads arrive in one inbox and can be pushed to an existing CRM by ADF.
What AdRoll is, in dealership terms
AdRoll is a self serve platform built around retargeting: showing display and social ads to the people who visited a store's website after they leave, across the open web, social platforms and email, with prospecting campaigns to find new visitors alongside. It targets by geography, by the pages a visitor saw and by audience, bids toward outcomes such as a return visit or a form, and reports across every channel it runs in one place. Retargeting requires a tag on the store's website, which the store or its web vendor places.
For a dealership the use is specific and valuable: a shopper who looked at three trucks on the store's site and left sees those trucks, or the store, in the days that follow, on the sites and social feeds they visit, with a reason to come back. AdRoll consolidates that across channels from one account at budgets a single store can carry, and its dynamic formats can show the vehicles the visitor viewed when the site supports it.
Connecting your own AdRoll account to the CRM has its own page: Run AdRoll from Your Dealership CRM. This page is about the channel and the leads.
Why a dealership would spend money on AdRoll
A store spends on AdRoll because most website visitors leave without an inquiry, and retargeting is the least expensive way to bring a share of them back, across the web and social from one account, with reporting that shows the return visits and forms. Dynamic formats showing the viewed vehicles raise the response.
The honest objection is that retargeting only reaches people who already visited, so its reach is capped by the store's website traffic and it creates no new demand; a store with little traffic has little to retarget. It needs a tag on the website that the store's web vendor places, and frequency has to be capped or the store becomes the ad that follows people around.
For the broader case for this kind of channel, Automotive Retargeting Campaigns covers it without repeating what is here.

Who AdRoll fits, and who it does not
AdRoll fits dealerships with meaningful website traffic, stores whose web vendor can place a tag, and dealer groups running retargeting per rooftop from one account. It fits less well for stores with little traffic and for stores without a web vendor to place tags. National sellers can run it nationally.
How LeadLocate runs AdRoll for your store
The practical question is whose login the campaigns live under. With the webXintel Ads Network, which every plan includes, they live under ours: you choose the zone, the campaign type and the pre screening questions in Leads Manager, and our team does the building and the daily management. With your own AdRoll account they live under yours. Request the connection from the Advertising Networks page in the CRM, our team completes the setup, usually the same day, and from then on the media is billed by AdRoll to your dealership and the account history belongs to you. Agencies that already manage a AdRoll account for the store can keep it; we work inside it. The two paths are not exclusive, and moving between them is a request, not a project.
What a AdRoll lead looks like when it reaches the CRM
An AdRoll sourced lead reaches the CRM as a return visit that becomes a form on a vehicle page or a LeadLocate lead page, a call to a tracked number, or a direct inquiry, attributed directly, with the campaign on the record. These are shoppers who already knew the store, so they tend to be further along than a first click.
Once it is in the CRM the channel stops mattering and the process takes over. The lead shows its source and campaign, the pre screening answers you asked for in Leads Manager, and it routes by the distribution rules you set, to a person or a rotation. Automated first contact, by text, email or a scheduled call, is optional and configurable. If the store's process lives in another CRM, Instant Push forwards each lead there by ADF on arrival, and the subscription price is the same either way. Expect a mix: shoppers who name a vehicle and shoppers who name a budget, both of them worth a call, as what to expect from car sales leads sets out.
One CRM for every channel you run
Every channel LeadLocate runs shares one workflow. Campaigns are set up in Leads Manager from a zone, a campaign type and a set of pre screening questions. Leads arrive in one inbox, route by one set of distribution rules, and are worked with the CRM's own texting, calling, call transcription, email and voicemail drop. Reporting is one place, with activity, company and management views. AdRoll slots into that as a source, nothing more, and that is the reason a store can afford to try it: the cost of adding a channel is the media, not another system. The advertising channels page lists every channel the CRM can run this way.
It also means a channel can be judged fairly. When every lead carries its source and every call, text and appointment is logged against it, the management report can show cost per lead and cost per appointment by channel over a quarter, which is the only honest way to compare a search campaign with a streaming flight or a mailing. A store that keeps its channels in separate systems never gets that comparison, and usually keeps paying for the one with the loudest sales rep.
For agencies that manage AdRoll for dealerships
For an agency, AdRoll is the retargeting layer it can run for any dealership client with website traffic from one self serve account, and connecting the store's LeadLocate CRM shows the returned visitors who became leads.
Agencies are how most stores buy AdRoll, and LeadLocate treats the agency as part of the store's team. An agency user can manage the campaigns in Leads Manager, hold the platform accounts in its own name and connect them, pull the same reporting the dealership sees, and use the webXintel Ads Network as a lead source for clients that want results before they want a media plan. What the agency gains is the piece it typically lacks: the CRM, the distribution rules, the texting and calling, the follow up processes, all of it visible so the agency can show the store what happened after the click. Agencies that bring dealerships onto the platform can enroll in the referral program. See automotive-media-buying-servicesL for how the agency side works.
Targeting the market you actually sell in
A dealership is a local business, so every channel LeadLocate runs is planned around a zone: a radius around the store, a set of counties, or a whole state for a group. The zone editor in Leads Manager is where that is drawn, and it applies to AdRoll the same way it applies to search or social. Auto brokers and stores that ship nationally can widen the zone to the country; a Toyota store in one city has no reason to pay for shoppers in another, and does not. Groups give each rooftop its own zone so two stores in the same group never bid against each other for the same household. One rule worth knowing before you plan a financing campaign: campaigns that mention financing run under fair lending rules, which do not allow narrowing an audience by age, gender, income, marital status, household size, education, language or ZIP, and Leads Manager locks those controls. Vehicle and geography targeting is unaffected.
Getting started with AdRoll through LeadLocate
Two steps. First, if your dealership is not on the platform, pick a plan on the pricing page; every plan is month to month with no long term contract, and every plan includes the webXintel Ads Network. Second, from Leads Manager inside the CRM, open Advertising Networks and request AdRoll. Our team handles the setup, usually the same day, and the campaign is planned from your zone and your selections. Spend on an account you own is billed to you by AdRoll; there is no markup on it from us. If the store's process lives in another CRM, Instant Push forwards each lead there by ADF.
Expect a short conversation before anything runs: which vehicles, which zone, which questions a shopper should answer, what a fair trial of AdRoll looks like in your market and when to review it. Then the campaign runs and the reporting does the talking. A channel that earns its place stays; one that does not is turned off from the same page, and the store keeps the leads, the records and the history either way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does AdRoll need something installed on my website?
Yes, a tag placed by the store or its website vendor, which is how the platform recognizes returning visitors. Our team coordinates with your web vendor on the website tags the campaign needs.
Can the ads show the vehicles a visitor looked at?
Dynamic formats can, when the store's website exposes vehicle data to the platform. Our team confirms what the store's site supports at the time of the request.
How is the campaign measured?
By return visits that become forms on vehicle pages and the lead page, calls to a tracked number and direct inquiries, attributed directly in the CRM, beside AdRoll's cross channel report.
Do I need my own AdRoll account to run it through LeadLocate?
No. The webXintel Ads Network is included with every plan and needs no account of yours. If you want campaigns under an account your dealership owns, request the connection from the Advertising Networks page and our team sets it up, or connects the AdRoll account you or your agency already hold.
Can AdRoll leads go into the CRM we already use?
Yes. Turn on Instant Push in the CRM settings and every lead is forwarded to your existing CRM by ADF the moment it arrives, with its source attached. The subscription price is the same whether you work leads in LeadLocate or forward them.
What does LeadLocate charge for AdRoll?
The platform is a monthly subscription, month to month with no long term contract; the plans are on the pricing page and each includes the webXintel Ads Network. Media you buy through your own AdRoll account is billed by AdRoll to you, not marked up by us. We do not tie the price to results, because no one can promise what a shopper will do.
Put AdRoll to work in your market
Request AdRoll from inside the CRM and our team sets it up, usually the same day. Not on LeadLocate yet? Pick a plan, month to month, and start with the included webXintel Ads Network this week.
