How to Report a Bad Lead in LeadLocate
A lead with a dead number and a bouncing email is reported from the lead itself, with what you tried, and the Quality Control team takes it from there.
Step by Step
Work the lead first
Call, text and email from the CRM before you report, because the request is judged on what was tried. A text that shows a failed delivery status on the bubble, a call log that shows no connection and a bounced email are the evidence, and they are already on the lead's communications log.
Open the lead and pick Report to QC
In Leads on the desktop CRM, open the status dropdown on the lead's row and choose Report to QC. In the LeadLocate mobile app, tap the lead to expand it and pick the same option from its status dropdown.
Describe the problem
The Report Lead To Quality Control form opens with a prompt asking why this lead should be reviewed as a bad lead and which methods of contact you tried. On the phone the same form is titled Report Lead to Quality Control and the box reads Describe the problem with this lead.... Write three plain lines: what is wrong, what you tried, when.
Submit
Click Submit Request. The form closes, the lead's status pill changes to Report to QC, and the request is filed with the lead's data and its communications log attached. Use Cancel if you change your mind before submitting; nothing is filed.
Watch the status
The Quality Control team reviews the request. If it is approved, the lead's status becomes Bad Lead. If it is rejected, the lead returns to New so it is worked again. Either way the outcome is visible on the lead without anyone emailing you.
Before you start
Any user can report a lead; the option is on every lead's status dropdown from the day the account is created, for every role, because the person who worked the lead is the one who knows it was bad. What you need is the attempt record. Make the calls and send the texts and emails from LeadLocate CRM, not from a personal phone, so the delivery status, the call log and the bounce are on the lead where the reviewer can see them. The lead replacement review page explains how the Quality Control team reads a request and what approval and rejection mean.
Know the difference between a bad lead and a lost one. Bad means the person could not be reached or the information was wrong: a disconnected number, an email that bounces, a name that does not match. Lost means a real customer who did not buy, and that goes through the Mark Lead As Lost popup with a reason instead. A customer who simply did not answer three calls in one afternoon is neither; keep working them.
What you should see
After Submit Request, the lead's status pill reads Report to QC in a distinct style, and the dropdown will not move it anywhere else while the request is open. The request itself is logged with the lead, the company, the user who filed it, the phone, the email and the reason, and the Quality Control team sees it on their Lead Quality Control Requests queue with the lead's communications log beside it.
The reviewer opens the request, reads what you tried, and clicks Approve or Reject, with an optional Resolution Note for the audit trail. On approval the lead's status changes to Bad Lead and it drops out of your working list. On rejection the lead goes back to New, which is the team's way of saying the attempts were not enough yet; the note tells you what they want to see. Managers can review the month's requests and outcomes on the printable report described on the reports dashboard page.

If it did not work
The request was rejected. Read the Resolution Note on the lead. The usual cause is a thin attempt record: one call and nothing else, or attempts made from a personal phone that left no trace on the lead. Work the lead again from the CRM so the log fills in, then report it again with the dates.
The status went to Report to QC but you meant Lost. Ask the Quality Control team to reject the request, which returns the lead to New, then pick Lost from the dropdown and complete the Mark Lead As Lost popup with a reason.
You do not see Report to QC in the dropdown. The option sits at the bottom of the list after the custom statuses; scroll the list. If the lead is already in Report to QC, the option is not offered a second time until the open request is resolved.
Nothing has changed after several days. Open a support ticket from the account portal with the lead ID, or use the contact page. The request is not lost; it is waiting in the queue, and a ticket moves it along.
Related tasks
Reporting is the last step of working a lead, not the first. The what to expect from car sales leads page sets out what a normal lead looks like and how many attempts a real one takes, and the automotive lead benchmark report gives the wider picture. Marking a real customer lost has its own guide. Every guide for the CRM is in the Help Center, and the LeadLocate CRM page shows how the lead list, the inbox and the communications log fit together.
Tips from the floor
Report from the lead the same day, while the attempts are fresh and the log is right there. Write the request the way you would explain it to a manager standing behind you: called twice on Tuesday and Wednesday, straight to a disconnected tone; texted from the CRM, bubble shows failed; emailed, bounced. That is an approval. And do not report a lead because the customer was rude or said not now; that is a lost lead with a reason, and the reason is worth more to the store than a replacement request that gets rejected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who reviews a bad lead report?
The Quality Control team. They read the reason you wrote and the lead's communications log, then approve or reject the request with an optional note.
What happens when a report is approved?
The lead's status changes to Bad Lead and it drops out of your working list. The outcome shows on the lead itself.
What happens when a report is rejected?
The lead returns to New so it is worked again, and the Resolution Note tells you what the team wanted to see. Work it from the CRM and report again if it is still bad.
Can I report a lead from the mobile app?
Yes. Expand the lead, pick Report to QC from its status dropdown, describe the problem in the Report Lead to Quality Control popup and tap Submit Request.
File it from the lead, with the evidence
Quality Control requests are part of every LeadLocate CRM plan, month to month. Schedule a live training session and a specialist walks your team through it on your own account.
